Argentina wants to join NATO

Interesting. China, Russia, and Iran have been trying to make inroads in Latin America for years.

Would require some fairly substantial rewrites to the NATO treaty to mean anything given that Article 5 specifically applies the mutual defense obligations when there is “an armed attack against one or more of them [member states] in Europe or North America[.]”. Article 6 supplements it by saying an armed attack is deemed to include an armed attack on the territory of any party in Europe or North America, France’s Algerian territory, the territory of Turkey, or islands under the jurisdiction of any member in the North Atlantic area north of the Tropic of Cancer.

Argentina, obviously, is not “in Europe or North America,” or any of those other places.

 

They just want the Falklands back.....

I recently saw the Argentina president thumping the "we want the Falklands.....excuse me, the Malvinas, back.

 

We need to keep NIL out of NATO, or else someone might get an offer to enter the transfer portal to the Warsaw Pact or the Triple Alliance

I dont remember the episode but he's reacting to a movie about the Welsh miner's strike. Which there is a really nice and funny film about called Pride, where gay activists raise money for the miners on strike.
