Ok, but the border always gets the *later* treatment.

Right there with the debt and deficit.

Wasn't that long ago when the save-the-world-price-is-no-object neo-cons found their home in the GOP big tent, per W, and the national Soxialist Democrat party was shitting its britches about all that...

Now they've somehow paired up with the hate America neo-progs, and set their camp in the Democrat tent.

    Politics....strange bedwetters....er, fellers...

so sad. fire in russias only s300 ammunition factory. all these fires at strategic locations are going to take a cumulative effect sooner or later

Russia's only S-300 ammunition factory caught fire in Moscow (msn.com)

Afire has occurred at the Avangard factory in Moscow. The factory is part of the Joint Stock Company Concern of Air and Space Defense Almaz-Antey, the Telegram channel Astra reports.

According to preliminary data, the fire has spread over an area of 50 square meters. However, firefighters who arrived to assist were able to localize it. The cause of the fire and whether there are any casualties is currently unknown.

The Moscow Machine-Building Plant Avangard is part of the joint-stock company Concern for Air and Space Defense Almaz-Antey. This enterprise manufactures ammunition for the S-300 and S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems.

The factory's website states that it is the only one in Russia producing these missiles. According to data from 2017, the factory employed 2,500 workers.

Poor Russia. All these damn inconvenient instances of spontaneous combustion. I wonder if that's why Putin decided to dock so much of his fleet on the bottom of the Black Sea?

ATACMS hit the armory? Crimean airbase is now out of commission. more air defenses being taken out

Crimea Air Base Strike Leaves 30 Russians Dead, 80 Wounded: Report (msn.com)

Up to 30 Russian personnel may have been killed and another 80 injured, according to a new report, after dramatic footage appeared to show explosions at a Russian military base in northern Crimea overnight. "About 30 Russian servicemen were killed and about 80 were wounded at the airfield in Dzhankoy," a Crimean-based Telegram channel called Crimean Wind reported on Wednesday. Crimean Wind is a pro-Ukrainian monitoring group that focuses on Crimea and generally offers reliable information.
    ............................
A prominent Russian military blogger, Rybar, said Ukrainian forces had attacked the Russian air base at Dzhankoy using around a dozen Army Tactical Missile System, or ATACMS, missiles. The missiles were launched in two waves, the blogger said. Footage widely circulated on social media by Russian and Ukrainian sources early on Wednesday showed bright flashes of light and explosions, with sirens wailing in the background. Data from NASA's Fire Information for Resource Management System, which tracks fires across the world, showed six blazes just outside Dzhankoy overnight.
    .......

Dzhankoy, south of the crossing from Crimea into Ukraine's annexed Kherson region, is a major military hub. Home to one of Russia's largest airfields in Crimea, it is key for keeping Russian forces on the mainland stocked up. Moscow annexed Crimea from Kyiv back in 2014. Satellite imagery previously taken over Dzhankoy suggested Russia had a number of helicopters and advanced air defenses at the site. Earlier this month, pro-Ukrainian partisans operating in Crimea said they had detected a "build-up" of air defense systems on the peninsula, including at Dzhankoy. The Atesh group said additional anti-aircraft missile systems around the Dzhankoy airfield were "not camouflaged in any way."

Looks like the house is finally getting off its ass and preparing to pass an aid package. Keep in mind that if the gop wins in November, this may be the last aid package for Ukraine.

Speaker Johnson said he was going to allow amendments to be added per regular order. I think it will be amended and that will necessitate it going back to the Senate for passage of the amended bill. It could then be filibustered in the Senate or not get the 60 votes due to the amendments or just because enough Rs vote against it. I think this may well be the plan by the Moscow Caucus of the R party.

Ukraine has already received a gazillion in aid. But if it can’t get one more trickle all is lost and blood is on Mike Johnson’s hands.

Commitment escalation is a psychological disorder

    "Escalation of commitment
is a human behavior pattern in which an individual or group facing increasingly negative outcomes from a decision, action, or investment nevertheless continue the behavior instead of altering course. The actor maintains behaviors that are irrational, but align with previous decisions and actions.

Economists and behavioral scientists use a related term, sunk-cost fallacy, to describe the justification of increased investment of money or effort in a decision, based on the cumulative prior investment ("sunk cost") despite new evidence suggesting that the future cost of continuing the behavior outweighs the expected benefit
