Loved that entire wing of the old Florida democrats. The Bob Graham/Walkin Lawton wing.

One of the few politicians in recent memory that ACTUALLY cared about the people in Florida. Glad his signature is on my UF diploma. Rest in peace

I don’t remember him as well but what about Reuben Askew?

Love peoples obits that say "vocal critic of GWB, also helped author the Patriot Act" - American politics / the modern Democratic Party in a nutshell there

I just realized reading the FB forum that we now have a player named Graham and Chiles on the team. Hopefully this Chiles will be doing more running than walking.

Give it a rest. Man was threatened by prosecution by Dick Cheney for challenging Iraq intel. He was prescient. Read up.

Ok, I was a college student and had no access to intelligence reports and realized the same thing lol. I also didnt expand the national security state and help create the hellscape that is America post-9-11.

Little known fact, Graham was the inspiration for Skink in the Carl Hiassen books. It was a private joke between them.

I always wondered who inspired skink. Don’t really see much overlap between skink and graham.

Read up about the NIE and the footnoting, and covering for the Saudis, which the fine Senator skirted by fictionalization in an utterly unreadable book

Always liked him. Just read that he carried 63 of 67 counties in his 1998 Senate re-election, and I honestly did not remember that despite having been more plugged into Florida politics then than I am now.

Agree. Obviously just a guess a possible explanation is that Bob Graham may have told Carl Hiassen that he was so fed up with corruption in Florida politics especially the state legislature that he had a fantasy about chucking everything and just disappearing into the Everglades.

Not sure he could have been in a video a hundred years ago but I get the point.

A lot of guys still left from that time are like "you mean I could have paid off pornstars and still become president if I had only been born like 20 years later?"
