You lose cred just as easily as jailer when you say that Mertz has limited QB ability. Everyone knows you are just talking bs to be contearian.

With a much better OL and a gun for an arm. Not very impressive work from UT's OC and QB coach.

I don't disagree in principle. Actually, alternating QB series would be worse than throwing a FR in against scUM, just to see what happens. But if scoring is the primary goal, I'm still good with DJ getting a few plays here and there when his game skills and physical traits make him a better choice - no matter what quarter they're in. DJ must have more than late game mop-up time to become the QB he needs to be next season. He will probably play a subordinate, but still significant role this season due to the enormous physical talent and dynamism he brings to the field. We're just not good enough yet to squander his talent in those moments when he brings a dimension/threat that Graham does not. Mertz is the rightful #1 by any sane measure, but DJ is a weapon that cannot be left unused. We've got a really good QB room IMO. I hope we can pummel other teams mercilessly with it. :p
    Note to Gatortenor37:
The word "hope" is not generally used to describe an unshakeable conviction or an absolute certainty - particularly in a tenuous situation. It's connotation in this instance is more along the lines of a "wish" rather than an actual expectation. I "hope" this clarifies things a bit. :p

Tebow was the obvious short yardage option be his passing in those situations was a difference maker.

CBN will be calling the plays again this season and he feels special teams will be one of the best in the Nation. (Pate Interview).

You notice in the Pate interview Napier skipped right past the Spring game Special teams snafu, with his special teams answer? This spring was about keeping the Napier narrative intact as we move into the summer......"Trust the Process"

Will UM have a better QB? Yes. No doubt. Our defense better be ready from GO! The game is an even match up. An all levels, including coaches. Probably the most critical opener weve had in quite a long time. Have yet to see or hear how this is a W for the Gators.

Average SEC vs average ACC. Average SEC wins. It's not complicated.

You sure about that? I dont know. They got a pretty great QB transfer. Im a Mertz believer, but there is only so much he can do. Mertz has not demonstrated the ability to carry the team on his shoulders. Maybe this is the game...I hope so! While the Swamp will make this into even match up at the start, I just dont know if it will make it go the distance.

It’s not a given at all but I’m not worried about Mertz. If we struggle , he’s the part I’m fairly confident in. He wasn’t the reason we lost all those games last year.

Mertz's first year in UF offense was 5-5 , Passer % 72.9 with 2,903 yards in SEC play
Ward's 4th year in WSU offense was 5-7, Passer % 66.6 with 3,735 yards in PAC 10 play Rushing avg 1.2 yards

How does Miami have the better quarter back "No Doubt"?

Ward had comparable stats against a worse schedule last year. To say one is clearly ahead of the other is pretty dumb.

I agree that we are ill informed (nice way you stated that point).

The Spring Game is what it is, an exhibition game that gave us a sneak preview of the cast and their talents.

I agree with many, that Lagway could be the real deal. However we have to remember that he is still an 18 year old lad, just 4 months out of high school and away from home. He needs more time to prepare and mature before being thrusted into the starting QB position.

This season could be similar like the 2006 Gator season. In that season Chris Leak lead the team to a National Championship. Also, Tim Tebow was put to good use and got the seasoning he need to take the team in his last three seasons.
