Tough task for Clemente who hasn't pitched in two months so not sure how sharp we can expect him to be. In scirmmages, he brought heat (mid 90s) but tried to fine line-it after being up in the count. Has seen liitle action since coming off TJ. Good luck Jake. Hoping there is a Tyler Dyson coming off the bench to shine.
Experimentation or not, we have to win our midweek games from here on out. Our current record won't allow any more slipups. We have to win them all. No excuses.
77— I will always have to pull for any of our guys that have been through TJ surgery and rehab as our family has been through it as well. It’s not an easy road for anybody, more so a power pitcher IMHO. I wish Clemente nothing but the best of luck and success as he continues ahead with his dreams.
I appreciate a desire to win every game and I truly wish they would, but that means we solely rely on the players who haven't performed at a winning level to somehow start to do so. Does that mean they simply need to decide to do better- they havent been adequately sincere so far? Does it mean the coaches need to use different words to convince them, or maybe just yell more and louder? We certainly can't add players to the roster, we can only look for progress from the guys we currently have. While a few position players have seen little or no action, there are seven pitchers who have been limited that much. I haven't seen any practices since the season started, but I attended more or less 80% of the fall and preseason scrimmages, including all of the pitchers except Coppola. All of them had good innings. I fully trust Sully to assess which of them are ready for prime time. That said, one exception was Michael Byrne whom I especially liked during his froshfall workouts. I can't remember if he had any game appearances at all, but beginning his second year, he did pretty well. It's fine that you prefer not to risk short term success for long term gain, but I put long term success- May and June weakend wins- ahead of beating teams we play on Tuesdays. We both have to choose what makes us happy.
Definitely glad to see Sully go with Jake as saw so many other guys getting a shot and here we have a guy that comes in and there is 9697 miles an hour with big-time talent
Very good point!! Heck, at this point, it’s got to be one batter at a time and one pitch at at a time. I’m getting way ahead of myself for sure
