Went to see it this weekend. It was good. The movie started with the war almost over though so not a lot of info on how it got started.

The most interesting thing was first they didn't get into right / left or pubs and dems. And it was suggested that if journalists showed up at the white house, they would be executed so they were imbedded with the rebels.

Hope that wasn't too many spoilers for you. There are some other shocking scenes that I won't go into.

Nothing that wasn’t already on Twitter. I thought this tweet by Matt Yglesias was funny, as we are all susceptible to this impulse. He was obviously being sarcastic, but we all want to think that way if we don’t discipline our thinking

Have read several reviews from my respected critics and it sounds like a great action film wrapped in poorly conceived agitprop.

Sounds accurate. Saw it last weekend at IMAX. Was entertaining but I didnt think it was special. Looked great, was tense, solid acting, and sounded like someone was firing next to you. Overall, though, I thought the story seemed like it was going to say something important but if it did... i missed it. I was just entertained by war violence on US soil in familiar settings.

Great song, but if I remember correctly it was bashing Reagan.

Who better to hire than those that believe the government is after their employer and their job. ;)

I just saw it. Its none of those things. There isnt all that much action, and there are basically no politics in it. It's actually kind of a vile movie, pornographic in a way. To me it seemed like one of those movies that indict the audience for watching it. And I dont think the reporters in the movie are heroic, they are kind of like audience surrogates, chasing the most gnarly footage of war. If there was a point to the movie its "oh, so this is what you sickos want ..."

You didn't miss it. The important thing was the role of journalism in events and how they sell their souls to get the story. And then they wake up 40 years later and wonder if it was worth it. That's why they had the 3 different generations of journalists. Old guy, reporters at the height of their success (and somewhat jaded) and a young person that doesn't know anything.
