That’s my operative assumption with just about any proven player in the portal these days

It looks like JP Pegues has committed to Auburn.

A humongous typo. I just went to the Arizona official website and saw that he had 29 assists for the whole season, or 0.86 per game.
An interesting thing I saw was that on the Roster page, each player has a "$" symbol by his name. Yep. You guessed it. You can donate directly to their NIL money on the website.

Not a star by any stretch, but a physical, athletic dude who defends and rebounds without fouling. Still have several 5s on the hook.

CTG has got it going again. Alexis looks like he'll be one of the pieces needed to fill the void left by Tyrese, Shimmy, and possibly Micah.

I think he has the potential to become a star. Not the flashy kind, but a do-it-all-well kind.

With Martin, expect the Gators to shift to a more modern style in terms of playing with multiple lead guards vs the traditional pg. I don’t disagree with you that Martin brings a lot of what Clayton brings, better defender/rebounder; not quite as good scorer. Winning pedigree though and tough. I will still hold out hope we add a traditional pg as I share your concerns with Martin and Clayton being similar guys. I don’t mind trying it with those two guys and Aberdeen. Just would like to have a plan B if needed. Overall even though it’s not completely done I think the addition of Martin would be nice!

IMO we needed a 1, 3, and 5 this cycle.
We got a great 3/4 who can play the 4/5 now with big upside and obviously versatile.
We're in good shape with SEVERAL potential 5s. The kind we need to: the big, muscular shot blocking kind who wont be pushed out of the lane
And were zeroing in on a couple 1s with presumably a full court press with whoever TG wants as his PG.
TG's middle name must be allstate because were in good hands.

The guard we will get first will probably be a combo guy and not a traditional pg. Maybe down the road will add a true pg. I think the focus right now is on a particular combo guard, defensive 5 and if we can improve our 3 position then that.

Golden has always liked having two guards on the floor who can create. That’s why he doubled down on guards with high usage rates last offseason. But, imo, that doesn’t mean we need a combo guard instead of a more traditional point. My read is that we want someone who can handle the ball against pressure and create for others, but creates for himself, too. Thus their emphasis on usage rate.

If we do get Martin, that’s a sign to me that Clayton is gone, or we’ve sold Martin on playing the Kugel role: multi positional defender and secondary ballhandler with scoring punch who comes off the bench, but plays starter minutes.

right now I think the staff believes Clayton and Martin can play together. There is a chance Clayton stays in draft but only if a team promises him a guaranteed 2 way. Unlikely as of now. Time will tell there though. If he leaves yes Martin can be a replacement of sorts. With the NIL money they have to pay Martin to get him and Clayton to stay there wouldn’t be much in the budget for another big time guard player. Of course if Clayton leaves that changes things. As of now though I think the likeliest scenario is Clayton at UF with Martin.

look for Aberdeen to be the guy playing the Kugel role off the bench if you will.

^ That would put a massive burden on Clayton. Maybe that’s what he wants. Only way I see it working is if either Aberdeen breaks out or we get an under the radar underclass point languishing on the bench somewhere who has immediate upside. With Handlogten uncertain next year, we have four more spots to fill, and we need legitimate contributors at probably three of them—I sure hope we aren’t low on NIL cash.
