Not exactly practical to build a new bathroom at every existing public facility. Even if Planet Fitness didn't want to be so inclusive, the problem still exists. Someone who looks like a male, and you would never in a million years know they used to be a female, should they use the male or female restroom?
I wouldn’t call myself a “supporter thereof” but I’m sure as shit not on the moral crusade against these people either like the GOP is. Not sure why some can’t just live and let live. Insane how obsessed with this topic some of our resident righties are. I couldn’t give less of a shit about trans people.
— Terrible. Can I ask a question to the reasonable Dems on the board? Do you actually agree with minors going through this surgery? We’re hearing about the long-term effects. What’s the harm in waiting till they’re adults, if they want to go through this? Just curious your thoughts.
I don’t like either solution. Let’s do unisex bathrooms instead. Planet fitness shouldn’t care about practical, they should focus on being inclusive.
I’m 100% against surgery or puberty blockers for minors. That will be the rule in my household. But I have no desire for the government to intervene.
Give us the studies. I'm happy to reciprocate. Here you go: What does the scholarly research say about the effect of gender transition on transgender well-being? | What We Know https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S1054139X23005608 Gender Identity 5 Years After Social Transition Mental Health Outcomes in Transgender and Nonbinary Youths Receiving Gender-Affirming Care
No one in my house had surgery or is on puberty blockers. I think Doctors are trained sufficiently to decide if there is a real reason for either of those things to happen. The AMA can monitor what is abusive way better than GatorKP, Citygator, MTG, AOC, or any other untrainted politicians or posters.
Puberty hits before people turn 18. Putting people on puberty blockers after puberty makes no sense unless there are underlying medical conditions to use the blockers. Surgery should not be allowed before 18 in trans cases. Difficult to find anyone who disagrees.
— Fair points. What are your thoughts on the puberty blockers? Does this report change your mind either way? Just curious. Thanks
The report ignored robust evidence of the efficacy of puberty blockers and hormone therapy. I will continue to take the same stance I always have. Leave it to the doctors, the patients, and their families.
This. Science is far from settled in this area. And if the science shows a slight increase of the testicular cancer, but significant mental health improvements resulting in lower suicide numbers, then b use the blockers. Right now, this is where we're at. If new studies come out and show different results, we can reevaluate at that time.
Don't be surprised if there is a huge scandal which comes to fruition from the puberty blocker thing. These are very consequential and dangerous medications. You are beginning to see some big players like Mayo come out and point out the danger. But people are going to rightly ask: how did we even get there in the first place?
Maybe you’re right. Or maybe not. Have you asked yourself why you seem So wedded to your seemingly Preferred outcome, especially Regarding some pretty barbaric procedures done to children. I would think if there is anything people would pause and wait for more research that this would be it. Why is there such a rush to cut into kids ? And such a full throated condemnation of anyone who dares to even voice a concern. I've read a lot of the research. The same research that Cass dismissed. The same Cass who was communicating with some of DeSantis's lackeys while putting together this report and follows anti-transgender groups on social media. Have you asked yourself why you are so wedded to your preferred outcome? And while we're at it, the bolded comment is total bullshit. It's the sort of nonsensical bad faith people on your side of the issue constantly engage in. You treat all aspects of gender-affirming care as if they're surgical interventions. My response was to your post specifically referencing SOCIAL transition. Social transition requires no surgeries or even medications. So spare me the disingenuous comments about rushing to cut into kids. Why do I care about this issue? Because I have transgender friends. I know what this culture war bullshit is doing to them. And these are adults. I can't even imagine how tough it is for the kids. I don't enjoy the idea of kids suffering.
Another example of the oppressive nature of the "transgenderists" (and antisemites but that's a different discussion). A bunch of ladies were not allowed to dance because their attire triggered some very troubled people. Dance Crew Takes a Stand After 'Triggered' Leftists Demand They Remove American Flag Shirts: 'There Really Was No Choice' (msn.com) "A representative example of the new "inclusion" tyranny occurred in Seattle on Saturday, when members of an all-female country line dance team believed that "there really was no choice" but to refrain from performing at the Emerald City Hoedown after learning that their American flag-themed outfits had left some attendees feeling "triggered and unsafe." + "Alas, those unnamed individuals who issued the effective ultimatum catered to a "triggered" minority of narcissists with a political agenda." "They had several claims" for feeling triggered, the statement read. "Mostly associated with the situation in Palestine and the Trans community in America." In other words, Israel's war against Hamas meant that dance team members must not show patriotism. Or, the perpetual claims of "oppression" parroted by purveyors of transgender ideology meant that dance team members must not show patriotism."
Stated from before, I don’t care what adults do…. Couldn’t care much less. Whether it’s drugs, sex , food, clothes etc. dress and F whoever you want. The line of delineation for me comes when you force others to participate. Be all the trans you want, but be authentic enough to know you don’t need to purposely show your dic- in a women’s locker room. I have a 7 and 5 yo. I do not shower in front of them and if one walks in i turn around. I would never in a million years drop my pants and walk around with my dic- swinging if there adolescents or teens around. It’s Creepy. The UK NHS has stopped writing RX for puberty blockers. That enough should give you pause. I’m a social libertarian to my core. Stick needles in your arms and drink and gamble and hook up with hookers all day. I truly think it should all be legal. But it’s difficult to dismiss continued research proposing at least a pause on flooding a kids bloodstream with this ‘medicine’ and performing bottom surgery on a 13 yo. Call me disingenuous but those are my personal opinions
This is like late term abortions. It's a myth that in truth rarely happens as portrayed, and when it does, it's a decision that I feel way more comfortable leaving to parents (who love their child way more than you or I do) and experts (doctors and psychiatrists), as opposed to leaving up to legislators who we readily admit in most circumstances are experts at nothing beside spending other people's money. I trust in the good intent of the first two groups way more than politicians.
Oh, I'm 100% sure they face psychological harm. And I think we can easily agree on who they face psychological harm from (i.e. not those that show them love and support them in being who they feel they really are).
