Win the series each time-that's all I ask too-a sweep is great-but winning 2 of 3 is good too

Not many of the fans stayed around after the game, so they missed the highlight. At home plate, a huge bonfire was lit and all of the black uniforms were burned.

While pitching obviously didn't help us last night our offense just looked confused all night. Especially the rightys could not get on that curveball. They werent even seeing it. Credit to dixon but not a good job at adjusting last night. Keagen struggled badly no doubt about it.... she was missing big. I wonder if she jsut wasn't completely warm or since it seems to be happening recently jsut needs a break. Maybe once finals are do they get a resurgence. Just flush this one and on to Missouri.

I hope they do burn them. Looked to me like a game between UCF & USF

No biggie as a one off.
Bit concerned though that between a full scout on her now and the wear of a long freshman season Keagan may be slipping a bit in effectiveness. Hopefully she gets a second wind.

I’ve been concerned about arm stamina for awhile now. It’s a much longer season than they’re used to. I don’t recall seeing any Gator freshman taking on this much of a workload so early on. Get these ladies a Red Bull lol.

Maybe this is a dumb question, but why does softball use their aces in midweek games but not baseball?

Softball pitchers can throw every day. Baseball pitchers can’t. Different strains on the arm. Softball pitchers are also able to throw many more pitches in a game. We’ve seen them go over 200 in a game and then start a game the next day. Baseball pitchers rarely go much over 100, and they’re down for a week in college or a minimum of four days in the bigs after doing so. Some baseball relievers throw a minimal amount of pitches several days in a row, but if they get extended in one game, they sit for a few days too.

Even with much lower pitch counts and much longer rest, you see the boys regularly blow their arms out. You rarely see this with the girls.

Agreed. However I’m sure CTW would prefer to rest our aces midweek but with our lack of depth at pitching just not a viable option ATM. Really hope Olivia can work through whatever is going on and eat up some innings down the stretch.

I disagree. IMO, Liv should have started the game. You cannot improve in a game without being in it.
I was glad to see Wooten in for the last inning. She did well.

When you add in travel ball she probably threw more innings than most think.
Mental fatigue may be more issue than physical

Wooten did do pretty well and her ability to change speeds so drastically is impressive. Concerning Olivia, and I have no way of knowing if it’s true or not, but I’ve heard they are trying to rework her mechanics. If that’s the case imagine pitching a certain way your entire life then being asked to do it all differently. That transformation won’t happen overnight. If CTW felt she’s ready I’m sure he’d have her out there.

It is a mental game especially for pitchers and I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s part of it but I’m still concerned about the physical fatigue also. With the competitiveness and fight these ladies are showing I’m not worried at all about mental strength. After a full offseason of athletic training, professional sports dietitians, top notch weight rooms and UF facilities in general this won’t be an issue next season if it even a thing now.

End of the day they are human. The whole team was off vs USF other than Falby and Kistler. That LSU series was insane, they had to be emotionally and physically drained, I surely was lol. On to the next tigers and another series win! Go Gators!
