It looks like Drew to UK - Nope Drew turns down Kentucky - UK scrambles and turns to Mark Pope (BYU)

I don’t think this is an upgrade. That is not a knock on Drew, but I think Cal’s talent acquisition was under appreciated. I get the fan frustration… as Cal always griped about his teams youth, but made no adjustment. I think he was way too slow in evolving w NIL/Portal, which is surprising. The arky NIL w/ Tyson will be enormous.
I think Cal will be a monster at Arky; and Drew will be solid at UK. It will be interesting to see how his personality meshes w BBN and that culture.

I always thought that his talent acquisition was his number 1 quality and the principal reason he was so good - he always had the more talented team.

I think it's the best hire they could've asked for. He's a much better coach than Calipari imo. If you can build a dynasty in Waco TX, that's saying something about your ability.

I think it's a huge upgrade from Cal of the past 4 years. Huge. No way he ends up being as good as Cal in the early years at UK though. So, to me, it depends which Cal we're talking about.

I think Arkansas gets the good Cal - or something closer to it and I agree he'll do well there. Cal changed after year 9 or 10 and there have been some really good articles (like one by Kyle Tucker) that go into detail about the specifics.

If it's Drew, I think he'll be solid and I would like that hire a lot.

On Wednesday morning, a plane belonging to JC Land LLC — a company owned by Joe Craft, according to business records with the Kentucky Secretary of State — flew to the Waco area. The aircraft was headed back to central Kentucky later Wednesday morning and landed in Georgetown just before noon. Television news crews had gathered at the Blue Grass Airport in Lexington in anticipation of the flight.

Craft is UK Athletics’ biggest booster and a major donor to the university.

Kentucky is moving quickly to make Baylor’s Scott Drew the Wildcats’ next basketball coach

Cals mistake imo was relying too much on 5 star freshmen who typically were one and done vs adding top seasoned portal players who would stay in place more than a year or two. I think he will do well and will find genuine acceptance and appreciation by the hogs fanbase. Actually, I think both programs will do well for Drew will not imo focus on the one and done scheme.

Drew posted a picture eating lunch with a Baylor booster today. Not sure that any meeting took place between Kentucky and Drew.

Quality of coaching in this league has grown tremendously. Drew, Cal, Barnes, Pearl, Beard, Oats—real diversity of unique coaching styles that have produced at a high level.

If this happens, I gotta admit being envious of Bama football & UK hoops, who replace their main men at lightning pace, while attracting proven coaches.

Don't look now but Kentucky's baseball team (27-5, 11-1) is among the SEC best too.

You have to figure Hurley stays at UCONN and Billy isn’t leaving CHI, so who’s next?

All of a sudden, this job is a giant chunk of kryptonite
The UK faithful are going to be pissed now no matter who they hire, and that's going to ramp up the pressure on whoever gets the job

I'm rooting for my Washington native to get it ...

But watch out for Will Wade... He feels like a guy that thrives off that negative borderline crazy fan energy
