She absolutely should have eaten it if she didn't see a viable throw to first. Heck, fake the throw to first and you can probably stand there and tag the runner coming in from third.
Wild. And she very well could have done that as Brooke was hell bent for election to the plate. I would have been amazed if she had thought of that, though, in that situation. Hindsight is lovely.
Bet both coaches covered this with their teams today, a good learning experience for the winner and the loser.
Did ya'll notice how during Falby's last 2 at bats last night, she stood in the box, squared up her swings and drove the ball? The situation called for it, of course, but she's a really good hitter when she does that. Everybody knows she's super fast, can slap, bunt and punch the ball, but I wish she would square up and drive the ball more often because she's very good at that as well.
Totally agree but I’m thinking that isn’t totally unique to us. CTW is however still on top of his game
At the “First Pitch” event, while our group was in the “Hitting Lab”, Kendra and Aric explained to us that Kendra was practicing for just this situation. She demonstrated to us how she working on it. Wow! Did her hard work come through. She hit that triple just like she demonstrated in February.
I can’t really see egos being a problem. The TEAM chemistry we are seeing I believe is legit. These youngsters also have veterans who aren’t just amazing on the field but absolute models of “class” and doing things the right way. 100% agree on the value of bringing in a new female coach who can better identify with these amazing young ladies.
Female coaches plural. Forgive me Francesca! I know she’s putting her marks on the program a second time around!
Totally agree but I’m thinking that isn’t totally unique to us. This level of game IQ from you fans on this forum is why I love this place so much. I learn things from you all on a daily basis! I never would have thought of that possibility. In my defense I was busy having a heart attack lol.
I’m going to just come out and say it. I’m getting eerily similar vibes this season to our 2013 squad. For any that don’t remember 2013 Gators softball shattered the definition of overachieving. Or from a different perspective they just refused to believe the naysayers and did what they knew they could do all along. To this day that 2013 team is the one I’m most proud of…and yes I am aware of what they did the following two seasons
Regan Walsh has certainly turned into a beast at the plate. Eight home runs last year in 168 ABs (.310 average); this year 13 HR in 105 ABs (.390 average). If UR in high school or in the portal, CTW has a good argument, "come to UF and we'll make you better." Really a shame that NIL $$$ enters the equation.
Speaking of NIL I wonder if Vawter is having buyers remorse at usc. They are a very over rated and she has very little support. Against good teams she seems to give up lots of hits and runs. Her degree from there sure will not be the same as UF and they have an outside chance of going to the playoffs and definately no chance to host. Love it !!
This is what I said at the time, it makes no sense outwardly. Rumor is she got between 50-75k to go there. 6 years out of graduation the difference in average salary between UF and SC is around 12k. And Over another 35 years of her career she’s probably giving up close to 400k total. Not to mention every employer who sees her resume is gonna be like “you went from Stamford to USC? Why?” All because she could be the ace for a second tier program. Maybe there’s more to the story, but on the surface it doesn’t seem very Stanford smart. Kids see dollar signs sometimes as we all know I guess.
