If you win all your sec series, you’ll usually be in good shape come tourney time. Girls are doing what they need to do. The boys…

Yep - Missouri is #16 in D1 Softball's Top 25, #10 in RPI and #14 in DSR, #14 SOS. They are 30-10, 5-7 in the SEC. Not going to be easy at their place either. It is going to be warmer out there than it was for the baseball team. High of only 68 on Friday, but up to 81 on Saturday and 85 on Sunday, sunny all 3 days.

    Here's an interesting comparison:

In 2006, the great Stacey Nelson, as a freshman, shared the primary pitching duties with junior Stacey Stevens. Several other pitchers ate up about 120 innings that season, as the team went 43-25, 17-13 in the SEC. Nelson threw 173.1 innings over 36 games, with a record of 14-11, ERA of 1.94. Stevens threw 189.1 innings over 37 games, with a record of 20-9 and an ERA of 2.40.
Already this year, Keagan Rothrock has thrown 135 innings over 26 games with a record of 17-4 and a 1.71 ERA. Ava Brown has thrown 78.1 innings over 21 games with a record of 14-2 and a 2.14 ERA.
In 2007, the Gators went 50-22, 17-11 in the SEC. As a sophomore, Nelson threw 318 innings over 58 games, with a 34-14 record and an ERA of 0.95. Stevens, a senior, threw 176.2 innings over 34 games, with a 16-8 record and 2.22 ERA. 1 other pitcher threw 4 innings and that's it.
Even Stacey Nelson was eased into her role as the stud Gator pitcher her freshman year, assuming it completely her sophomore year. Keagan is forced into that position right off the bat, with another freshman as her 2nd, and both are performing admirably. No telling how good their 4-year careers could look.

This softball program could very well be absolutely terrifying to the opposition in the coming years. I’m remaining even keeled but I expect great things this season too.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the rule on a missed third strike is you can always try to beat it out as a runner if there are two outs. Does not matter if the base is occupied or not. Still, so many forget to run anyway and Skylar recognized the situation and took off.

Interesting twitter post from Olivia today. She isn't getting many chances but she is clearly all in since she posted the video of her going nuts when we tied the game:

And an interesting twitter post today from Ava. Apparently McKee on LSU is her best friend. Ava got her to pop out to first in the 8th inning last night:

I'd pitch Olivia from inning 1 vs. South Florida. She needs the work and we will need her later. Let's show softball nation we have 3 good freshmen pitchers.

Perhaps it’s an also a hint she’ll be joining the rotation soon! Regardless it’s awesome to see this level of team chemistry.

Head scratcher for sure lol. I still believe when the dust settles we’ll be just fine. If nothing else this can be used as locker room fuel!

With runners on 2nd and 3rd, it might be the LSU catcher should have held on to the ball if she couldn't make a clean throw to first. The bases would be loaded, but LSU would have still been playing. The throw was way high and I'm not at all sure the 1st baseman presented herself to receive a good throw.

No. "or there are two outs". I always wondered why all of our catchers for years always throw to first on a third out strike out. Even if the strike is caught. Now that I think about it, I'll bet Tim instructs them to do that to make it just second nature for them. He doesn't miss a beat.
