Most SEC basketball programs don't have a clue on what it takes and how to win a basketball national championship - unlike in football, lol.

See South Carolina (2017), Auburn (2019) & now Alabama (2024).

Many of these SEC teams have not even gone to the NCAA Finals game - only Kentucky (12), Arkansas (?2) and Florida (3) have gone to more than one NCAA Final.

The last SEC National championship was back in 2012 - more than a decade ago.

Now if some of these programs happen to go back to the Final4 numerous times then they could eventually figure it out.

    Disagree!

The GatorSlam still reigns supreme in 2006:
    NCAA-Basketball Championship (06) + BCS-Football Championship (06)

Not in the same year, but close enough..
    NCAA-Basketball Championship (07) + Tim Tebow's Heisman (07) +
    BCS-Football Championship (08)

Well, that is special, I agree, but that’s not what I was talking about. I was taking about back to back basketball championships.

    So… we do not disagree.

Yeah though when UCLA won it there were about a half a dozen competitive teams in the NCAA, they waltzed to the Final Four each year and were so stacked compared to other teams it would have been a complete shock if they had lost. There is FAR more parity in college basketball now and much more difficult to win consistently

Agree. I personally don’t count all those antiquated championships that blue bloods rely on to bolster their numbers the same as I count modern championships. But… they do technically count. All im saying is that I’m far more concerned about Bama, UT, and others becoming football and basketball champions alongside us than I am concerned about being the last team to repeat. I also want to protect our basketball and football championship in the same year.

For illustrative purposes, I’d rather that Clemson win three in a row than for UGA to have won their two in a row. I’d even rather have seen Saban pile more rings than UGA getting off the hook. At this point 7 rings vs 9 rings… what’s the difference? He completely dominated this era regardless. But UGA finally winning… that just sucks.

I agree with you on all counts, which is why I can't stand to see UConn win tonight.....but looks like they're about to get it done. Those bastards.
