Does this possibly open up our chances with Liam McNeeley?
What about the great recruiting class committed to Kentucky?

Billy D far too smart to engage with that low-rent fan base, even if he were open to a return to college ball.

Dawn Staley recently said she’d coach men. Go for it KY.

We will lose them all except for Perry. The positives outweigh the negatives.

Calipari knows he could be fired. Don’t blame him for grabbing last big contract with a team with more reasonable expectations. However, don’t like his one and done recruiting style. Don’t think you can build a NCAA tourney champ that way.

Wow...this is something else to wake up to! I'm not a big Cal fan, but I think he will have Arkansas contending for SEC titles. The guy can recruit, so there will never be a lack of talent at Arky. I sure hope Coach Donovan doesn't want another shot at college coaching. How weird would it be to have him coaching Kentucky on Billy Donovan Court?

I felt nothing when White went to Georgia. I knew that most fans wanted him out, and Georgia isn’t really our basketball rival. But if Billy D went to UK, I would be pretty disappointed… probably to the point of disliking him.

I agree, except for the disliking part. It would be very disappointing, but I don't think I can dislike Coach Donovan. Sort of like when Spurrier went to USCe.

USCe isn’t and wasn’t really a rival in football like UK is in basketball. If Donovan went to Vandy, Mizz, MSST, or similar I don’t think it would be as bad even if I didn’t like it.

I think negative fan pressure gave him the nudge to get packing. Like CMW, if you keep doing the same things, that show up on court, the fans start getting vocal. His family might have even taken some heat. Cal is human and not dumb, but the way he never changed with the portal hurt the program. I am sure he is realized this in his making this change. Will he change his system, we will see, but there will be noise in the future at Arkie...

I am still pissed that Spurrier went to a team in our division. If Billy goes to UK I will scrape his name off the court myself.

Not really, but I would want to.

Imagine what a guy like Mark Few could is with the resources at Kentucky. I prefer, however, to only imagine and not see.

I think with Mike White, it was just time for a change for both parties. I think with Billy D, he is our legend, and I don’t want to share our legend with anyone.

It’s different than Spurrier, too, because every rational fan understands that we could have hired him in 2005, and we chose to hire Meyer. Spurrier wanted to coach and there was a middling job available, where he went and made history coaching there. Nobody could rationally be angry at him for taking a job once we didn’t hire him.

i found some wild berries that should hold us over for awhile. There is a bamboo plant on the far end of this island that could fashion a raft.

Yes this date may be a holiday in my house from now on. I'm fine with having to start from the ashes. It makes it more fun :)

    Why would anyone begrudge Billy?
He did more for UF in his sport than maybe anyone ever has, given the public reach basketball has. If he wants to come back, UF isn’t open, and KY is a premier job, and the only premier job open. One he dutifully turned down twice while at UF. And Kentucky will be good whether he is there or not.
    So I would welcome him.

And not for nothing, but Golden’s name is getting some run on the UK boards.
Think he would be well down their list though. And honestly, in the unlikely event they got that far, I think he would stay if we got close in pay. He has what he needs to win here and just relocated his young family.
