Trumpers in 2020: Bidens going to ruin the economy, put businesses back into lock down, tank the stock market, tax corporations into bankruptcy, and put everyone out of work. Trumpers in 2024: Duh, obviously the economy was always going to do well ...
If America having the biggest economy in the world (in 2024) is your claim to fame with respect to the economy, you know it ain’t good.
Oh it's more than just the greatest ... The Biden economy holds the record for job creation and put up a GDP number than Trump only dreams of... And let's not forget, you guys were one's claiming Biden would ruin the American economy ... is this your way of admitting you were wrong?
Donald Trump is an insurrectionist. Dude legitimately tried to illegally hold onto power and then didn’t even attend the inauguration of his legally elected successor… and people still want to elect that moron? Joe Biden has delivered an administration that is legitimately successful. I listed many measurements. With the great shape we are in, people still wanting to put a guy back in office who put pressure on the GA Secretary of State, organized fake electors, lied about election integrity, didn’t attend the inauguration, and to this day lies incessantly about the election? I mean, come on. Even if Biden sucked it wouldn’t be a hard choice and as I outlined he has done a lot right.
So about 40% of the country reads legitimate news, and is economically literate. That's not really ground-breaking information to anyone. Particularly when you consider that over half the voters of one political party think the 2020 election was stolen. (!!!) 40% of the voting populating having a reasonable level of information isn't actually all that far "outside the realm of mainstream opinion." But let's return the discussion to the actual facts; Achievements: Economic turnaround that includes Stock market highs rolling toward 40,000 Unemployment lows consistently in the 3%s Record employment participation by 25-54 year olds Record wages outpacing inflation from pre-covid levels High wage growth rates in the lowest tier wages Record small business start ups Deficit levels reduced in half from Trump's covid levels and back to 2012 levels as a percent of GDP Reigned in post-covid inflation to target levels now at 3% for last 12 months Bipartisan legislation Historic $1.2T Infrastructure bill Tech manufacturing growth via CHIPS bill Prescription drug cost reductions with Inflation Reduction Act including $35 insulin caps Only progress made on gun safety in decades with Safer Communities Act Energy Independence Record Solar and Wind output with future investments accounting for all of incremental power growth in US $7B solar power project Record Oil production Record Oil exports Inflation adjusted gas prices lower than any year since 1974 - compared to 2020 adjusted gas is now only $2.24 based on wages Safety & Culture At historic lows in violent crimes in US Fewer combat deaths than any president since Jimmy Carter Strengthened allied relationships and an expanded NATO Historic levels of people with health insurance Low leadership turnover, leading to stability Zero scandals, leading with ethics Civility and grace, every day Wonderfully boring and steady governing
1) Most Americans including me are not happy with the economy. 2) Those “created” jobs, were simply a consequence of reopening the economy after putting it in a coma for a couple years.
About half of Americans are economically illiterate, and think the state of the economy is whatever some orange buffoon tells them it is. You?
You're only not happy with the economy because a Dem is president. If it were a Repub pres, with the exact same metrics, you'd think the economy was great.
This is a big deal. Thanks Biden! https://www.wsj.com/health/pharma/medicare-part-d-plan-drug-cost-savings-69c3db3c?
Interesting points, for sure. Yet my self-described “Independent” political mind sees it differently. Biden has done some really good, and some bad. Hard core Pubs see only the bad and are blind to the good. Nothing really unique there. But I do agree with the point that Biden was to be the “unthreatening moderate.” I think for the most part he’s met that objective. I don’t see his recognition of marginalized people, like queers, as moving the needle. Nor, for that matter, do I see the prosecution and civil cases against Trump as Biden’s “Lawfare.” Forgetting that he created a wall to ensure he did not call the shots and appointed an independent prosecutor, I see it as maintaining the standard of our Constitution that no man is above the law. (And I certainly recognize we won’t see eye to eye on that). Unlike you, I think Biden HAS governed as promised and expected. My biggest beef (and don’t get me wrong - I have several merit-based beefs with Biden) is that Biden just won’t leave. He will be our President in his mid-80’s. Maybe I am poisoned by experience, but my father is a brilliant, incredibly accomplished man, and yet there’s no way he could handle the 24-7 stress and pressure of the Presidency. (The same is true of Trump, as well, on that note.)
"1) Most Americans including me are not happy with the economy. Interestingly, a majority of Americans believe that they are doing well economically while at the same time still believing that economy is in poor shape. Why some people feel good about their bank accounts but bad about the economy "2) Those “created” jobs, were simply a consequence of reopening the economy after putting it in a coma for a couple years." While that may have been true in 2021 and maybe early 2022, it's certainly not the case anymore. More people are employed now than ever before and that includes the period prior to the pandemic.
The plea... fell on deaf ears of course. This is a far left leaning echo chamber. Even if Reps came here in good faith to have an argument, they support Trump and we all know that anything other than wishing Trump went to jail for life and is the second coming of Hitler will get your flamed here. I've posted many times here as a test something positive and/or left leaning only to be met by silence. You only get a reaction from the people around here by being contrary or lock step. There is no middle ground. To be honest, most people remember the pre-mod River who would never waste an opportunity for a good roasting session as opposed to honest discourse. To be clear, I think you were and are one of the better lefty's here and I think your posting style then was more about amusement and gotchas rather than some others who post what seems out of pure hatred. So to move on, we get TJGator who apparently said something off in another thread but actually posts a thoughtful rebuttal only to be met by... honest discourse? Nope... Flame. What a shocker, the left leaning echo chamber members wanted discourse and they got someone willing to play ball only to be turned away. Typical response to anyone that posts anything of substance here. You say 'XYZ' on such n such thread so your oppinion is invalid and therefor I will resort to name calling and lumping all conservatives into the same basket. Then we move onto the kicker of it all and what makes this place truly a place you cannot have an honest convo... we get the ole' 'My side is better than your side because your side does this'. Lumping all of one side into a nice easy basket ready for name calling and degrading. Once both sides figure out your leaders are both corrupt, we can make progress. You see, there aren't very many liberals who want to have a conversation around here, especially with Trump involved. Simply look online in most videos you can find that while Republicans may be wrong about a lot of things and they may have hitched their truck to the wrong boat, they are there to discuss things and the leftists are there to call names and throw flame. See y'all in a few months when I check back to see if anything changed.
He is complaining about workers at the bottom getting $20 in one thread and then trying to cop some feels for the sin of wealth consolidation in the other. What you are missing is this: The right wing no longer advocates policy. It just complains. And said poster wants to complain on both sides of a competing issue. Wages too high in one thread and too low in another. You can see that, right?
If this is how you feel, argue these feelings while you are happily debunking his points one by one. If you are so correct (I don't care to fact check either one of you so Im not implying you are not correct in any smart alic type of way, fwiw) then wouldn't it feel better to logically take down each and everyone of his points or atleast consolidate them and give an honest answer? Then maybe he comes back with an honest rebuttal and why he thought of those situations with his point of view. This creates..... everyone plug your ears for the dirty words... honest discourse. This goes back to what I've been saying all along and the reason I post against Liberals here. Most of you are simply unpleasant to put it nicely. Although, truth be told though City, I have found you to be one of the better lefties out there as time goes by and I think you usually give what you believe to be facts from your point of view and not as much straight flame as others. Thats why Im even throwing a bone here to give an honest response when I normally say my peace and leave you guys to continue the madness. However, TJ had an opinion that you think is wrong or at least say hes sitting on the fence on an issue. You took that and that only and disregarded the whole post. You started with the name calling and grouping just by one posters response to you with his "facts". He may be wrong, but at least in this thread he posted his response to your OP topic while everyone else was bashing eachother as usual. Once again, Republicans may be wrong and they hitched their wagon to Trump but they for the most part argue their opinions only to be kicked time and time again for who they vote for instead of people trying to figure out why they are voting for him.
Poster claimed several inaccuracies, all while admitting failed attempts at trolling. Wait . . . was that name-calling?
"What a crock" - we know what that means. "Lack of logic permeates in the conservative movement" - Am I to guess this is actually a postive statement towards the poster and conservatives as a whole? You guys continue to prove the stereotype correct. The smugness that comes from most of you is so thick you can cut it with a knife. Kinda like anticipating people won't get that they are being made fun of because those who are smarter than everyone try to degrade you with bigger or more words than the dumb common folks can understand.
