We know what Wilson can do, and there is a reason we would never use him in a goal line situation. The tackle is what I like to see. I believe we lead the league in Missed tackles, by EOY. Not 100 as the below was the only thing I could find on missed tackles. This is from GatorCountry article from last year. Link also below. Tackling: B- While the Gators started off very strong with just nine missed tackles in their first two games, Florida has combined for 63 missed tackles in 2023, an average of nine a game. While this is a slight improvement over Florida’s 2022 defense, who averaged 10.6 missed tackles a game in the regular season, there’s cause for concern as Florida is set for a challenging final five games. The reason for my high grade; Florida ranks third in the SEC in missed tackles per game, trailing only Georgia and Alabama. The Gators missed a season high 17 tackles against Kentucky and have missed 10 or more tackles in three of their last five games. This is a grade that could end up dropping if Florida can’t turn around their recent struggles. Florida Gators bye week report card | GatorCountry.com
Why? Who sets these arbitrary break points of ethical vs unethical? It was all BS anyways, give UF it's SEC title's back, give Reggie Bush his Heisman back, give SMU it's program back.
I can only speak for myself but I always maintained that Florida played the game with paying players but were not allowed to play at the same institutional level as other programs. That's not to say florida was more ethical per se but sometimes ran a "cleaner" program by force. I think Meyer ran the program as loose as possible but I don't think he had the institutional, city or booster support system that Saban instilled at Bama and smart at uga has had.
Yes and no. I have been guilty of some blissful ignorance at times. It became painfully obvious how dirty and how disparate programs were being ran in the past 20 years or so and my interest has waned. I think it is a more even playing field with NIL so there is more opportunity to play the same game but it's unsustainable in its current state and I'm not sure how you regulate 3rd party involvement especially with an unregulated portal. Is it really level if some billionaires have more money to burn than a number of other schools boosters?
We need to get John Morgan into our Nil program. The problem is he makes billions by not being stupid.
Nope. It's why I'm fine if the system finds it's way to an NFL like level playing field. If there is anything the NFL does right, it is giving all the organizations the opportunity to win. Organizations that are the best at coach and player evaluation succeed.
All true. At least we see it for what it is instead of believing Nick Saban is the best recruiter to ever walk on the earth.
Yeah it was just his personality.... People forget how hard he hit the ground running with recruiting even after a lousy first year and while running a boring offense. No questions asked of how they were able to do it. They also try to use the excuse that Bama was the path to the NFL despite the fact that Florida has always been near the top for producing pro players as well, even during our crappy years.
I saw some of his videos from his days at Wisconsin and he can fly. I'm thinking he Wilson and Jackson are the top 3 receivers right now, but that's just me guessing from what I saw of our receivers last year... and Dike at Wisconsin.
Can you imagine how good we can be just by adding tackling to our skills? Lol... real tackling? That's a 3 game swing in wins for us last year... had we learned that skill-set before that season played out... who knows how it would have played out.
Just an uneducated observation, but this recruiting board has dried up. I see more recruiting news on my FB page feed. I realize what time of year it is, but I see all kinds of tidbits about other programs and even some visits to UF, just not on this page. What gives?
