    Napier from PC after scrimmage:
After Barber was injured last year we were playing with one hand in our pocket.

Also said positive things about protection now and that we'll be able to throw down field more.

I didn’t mean to be snide. Sorry if I came across that way. I was responding to a lot of ridiculous stuff in the thread and became a little cynical. No disrespect intended.

You added on to your original post that I replied to. You originally stated, “ sometimes the analytic specialist get so lost in their numbers that they overlook the biggest factor (human element).”

What I wanted to know is do you have examples of when that happened? When did an analytic specialist get so lost in their numbers that they overlooked the human element?

I've seen the reverse happen- Russell Westbrook.

Oh no, looks like I overreacted. My bad… We’re even now. :emoji_sunglasses:

On point, this isn’t the first time you’ve mentioned “sunshine”. Do you have some specific examples of sunshine pumping on GC?

I’m of the opinion the board is hyper negative. I could probably find 1,000 posts backing that up. Other than @doctorg8r’s recent threads, who’s intentionally pumping sunshine to generate some positive conversation in an overwhelmingly negative environment, I just don’t see the sunshine.

I wasn’t aware that “sunshine” carries a negative connotation. I’ll be the first to say I’m a sunshine pumper. I have been early on with every coach we’ve had — to run down our program is counterproductive doing damage, and makes the coaches’ jobs even more difficult (especially recruiting). I’ll even call it self-destructive.

At some point in each of the last 3 guys’ tenures I came to the inevitable realization that there was no more sunshine to pump, and arrived at my own conclusions that the coach just had to go. But we’re nowhere near that point with CBN, especially when you factor in all the good he’s done laying solid foundation for our program. Gator fans running him down at this early point in his career at UF is just straight up destructive. Obviously that’s exactly why some posters are doing what they do. Why the mods have been directed to take a hands-off approach with obvious trolls is head-scratching.

Uh, what was the question again?

Your point regarding @doctorg8r ‘s posts is identical to mine — my post was pointing out that he’s not just pumping sunshine, but backing it up with detail from apparent insiders, or just a lot of research. “Sunshine” is great, but it carries more weight and credibility when specific tangible reasons for optimism are provided as well

No doubt it had something to do with pumping sunshine, dogging the coaches, or the improper us of analytics.;)

    Thanks for the apology!
Please check my original post again. I never edited it.

As for your question about examples:

Again, say that analytics is bad and should not be used. It appears now that it is more advantageous to use both tools.

Donzo, I do the same thing occasionally. I have noticed the negativity has virtually stopped on some of my recent posts. My impression is that these negative posters have NOTHING to contribute on a positive level.

I am convinced responding to these folks is like farting in the wind! It's not your validity, it's their inability to see positive developments!

Spring, for every program, should have a level of positivity and expectation for the coming season.

Whats the point of just rehashing the previous year or years failure's? Unless the posters agenda is a coaching change.

If people want to have some positivity and support of the team, excitment for the incoming freshman and the new transfers, whats wrong with that? I find that normal "fan" behavior.

But the current environment with social media is that every fan (and podcaster) is smarter and more expert than the coaches and decision makers currently in place. Pretty easy to say we should be Michigan, Alabama, OSU or UGA.

The talent aquisition business is in a new realm. The old days of coaches having "iron clad" discipline and dominion over players is over.

I'm not in Gainesville but from what I read CBN approach seems very "player friendly", the recruitment and ultimate success in landing Michael Boireau is an indicator of that.

Now I have no clue how the locker room really is, we are deep into Free Agency now, and players can turn on a dime, ala Treavor E.

At the end of the day UF will kick it off against the Canes in game 1 and we fans will get to see the first round of the 3rd year finished product.

I take spring and fall camps with a grain of salt. Much hype and hyperbole those times of the year, with media types wanting to get their "time" and
podcasts up, reporting on practice, and scrimmages, that amount to a sack of nothing IMO. Sure it's exciting, and hopeful to hear about the
secondary making an INT or the defense actually tackling, but thats inter team and inter squad playing against each other. The metal won't hit the meat until game 1. I will remain positive and reserve critical judgement until that time.

My sentiments exactly. I hope we are good in Miami is not because I don’t want to be throwing shit at my TV in the first quarter

I have to admit that my "sunshine" was a bit light in the past, and it carried less weight becasue I was relying on Hope and Change as a real solution to a major problem... I won't ever rely on Hope and Change again. Lol...:D

I think this year the O-line is maturing and developing a cohesion that has not been seen in a few years. And you cannot undervalue all the talk from everyone around the football program. I also think, judging from all the chatter, our O-line will be much improved this coming year.

It's a combination of veteran O-lineman with experience, and the transfers that I'm excited about. That... and the help from quality newcomers that have me feeling good about our O-line room. Young and old... we have a very good combination of youth and experience.

I just hope they stay healthy.

That alone will pull the D Backs and the Linebackers away from the LOS. The playbook will open up way more.
