Michael Hobbes details 4 recent incidents of horrific violence against Trans teens. This is why attacks like that epitomized here are so important to address - we are creating a toxically dangerous atmosphere

The portion of Genesis that tells of Adam's rib being removed and turned into his "help mate" indicates Adam, who was made in the image of God - was an androgynous individual. It is written God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam and his "rib" was removed from his side which God formed the first woman.

The Hebrew word for rib - tsela - is variously translated in other contexts as board, plank, beam, side, chamber, cells.
Then consider that most male mammals and almost all primates - with the exception of spider monkeys, wooly monkeys, and human males - have a baculum. "Where'd it go?"

The Hebrew word is used to describe supports in the construction of the tabernacle and other objects crafted form wood in several scriptures and only as a human body part the one time in Genesis to describe the creation of Eve. Some regard the proposition as a phallacy, and I'm not going to argue for the possibility. I think it more a biblical explanation as to why a man does not have one.

There's no hard evidence here, but I provide this link to an interlinear where you can find the verses where the word tsela is found a number of places in the Bible describing architecture or construction. H6763 - ṣēlāʿ - Strong's Hebrew Lexicon (kjv)

Was Eve Created From a Very Different Bone of Adam?
(JTA) — Bible scholars are not generally known for producing viral or sexy content.

"But American Jewish University professor Ziony Zevit is causing a stir with a new book suggesting that in Genesis, Eve was made from a bone in Adam’s penis — not his rib, as we have all been taught.

"In 'What Really Happened in the Garden of Eden,' Zevit, who is Distinguished Professor of Biblical Literature and Northwest Semitic Languages at the Bel-Air, California, university, makes the case for the baculum, which means penis bone.

"The, ahem, thrust of his argument, which is also featured in a recent article in Biblical Archaeology Review, is that the account in the first book of the Bible is the only place where the Hebrew word “tzela” is translated as “rib.” Elsewhere, it is used to mean the side of something."

Further reading on the topic is raised at the posted links. If you are interested or intrigued you can easily do your own research.

Sounds like very intellectual reading. A book that is the "word of God", which was really written by men, thousands of years ago. The make believe woman in the story was created from the make believe penis. Keep going...

And God said, Let us make a Spirit World Otherkin in our image, after our likeness: and let THEY/THEM have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

Trump's call for a Christian Day of Visibility comes to mind. Using an analogy when I was a child I used to ask my parents why there wasn't a Children's Day since we had a Mother's Day and a Father's Day. Their response was that every day was a Children's Day and similarly every day in the US is a Christian Day of Visibility.

I would get behind a “Christianity Visibility Day”. But I doubt any corporal works of mercy or the like will be visible from that crew.

He didn’t set the date. The date was set about 15 years old. He signed a proclamation. If you search White House proclamations, you will find thousands of them each year that are signed by the president. There are more proclaimed days, weeks, months and years than you can shake a stick at. However, there are very few national holidays. Christmas is the only religion-based national holiday.

Well, this is interesting. If accurate, all of this transgender visibility and promotion may be quite "harmful ignorant nonsense".

Believe data, not activists: Transgenderism among kids is mostly a fad (msn.com)

"Researchers at the Netherlands’ University of Groningen recently released the results of a landmark 15-year study of 2,700 children starting at age 11.

They tracked the gender non-contentedness of these children over the years and found: “In early adolescence, 11% of participants reported gender non-contentedness. The prevalence decreased with age and was 4% at the last follow-up (around age 26).”

The researchers concluded, “Gender non-contentedness, while being relatively common during early adolescence, in general decreases with age and appears to be associated with a poorer self-concept and mental health throughout development.”

In other words, most of the children in the study who were feeling gender dysphoric in their awkward teenage years had shaken that off and adjusted by early adulthood, and their dysphoria was associated with bad self-esteem and mental-health problems."

Anecdotally, we have had three transgender teenagers in our extended family. Two of them were in homes that responded with love and acceptance. One of them was in a home that responded with hostility and rejection. The two that received love and acceptance are currently identifying with their birth gender and living happy lives. The one that received hostility and rejection has gone through all kinds of terrible things, mostly as a result of moving out of their parent's house as soon as they turned 18 and hopping from bad situation to bad situation.

I believe that many of the children identifying as transgender are not really transgender, but caught up in the wave of attention and excitement that comes with making such claims (estimates are that about 0.6% of teenagers are identifying as transgender, about 1 in 1500 births show genetic/physical signs of transgender, even if we assume that transgenderism can be entirely nonphysical and double that to 2 in 1500, the current situation is 6 times the highest end of reasonable expectations). I know that pushing against it can strengthen a child in continuing to make those claims, whether true or false. I know that responding with love and acceptance gives them room to work through things and find out if they really are transgender or just playing with the idea.

One of these approaches pushes them further into that identity, one of them lets them explore the idea without needing to make it their identity.

You will never regret responding with love.

I would certainly imagine every bit of that is true. There can be a lot of confusing times as a kid, adolescent ... With the attention that transgenderism is getting, it probably offers an alternative to the kid who isn't sure what's going on, but that something doesn't feel right.
That's my guess, of course. I know two transgenders, that I know of. One of my best friends from high school - bachelors and masters from UF, PhD from Stanford, engineer at Lockheed - decided in his 50s or 60s that he was meant to be a woman. We weren't in contact at the time, have been since.
A girl I coached at U6 and U8 soccer is now a guy. One of my favorite kids in all my years of coaching. Bright, funny, smart. Very successful and well-known family. They moved and I'm not sure when the change was made, but he appears to be doing very well. Penn law ...

Christians don't need a day of visibility. If they do what they should they will be visible.
