I think I saw that and was what I was referring to. It almost was the antithesis of proper police conduct.

I assume this is the case TPD is referring to in this Facebook post?

    City of Tallahassee Police Department

If so will be interested to see what the full bodycam video shows once they release it, because TPD seems adamant that the video clip is misleading and that their investigation has confirmed that nothing wrong was done.

Yes, that would be considered a refusal.

I watched the video of her testimony and her response about having taken a prior inconsistent position about unsealing the bottle didn’t make sense to me.

TPDs response will be interesting. Seal broken, or not, I just can’t see any legitimate reason for an officer to empty a bottle of alcohol and then put it back in the car…

I’m wondering if there were two bottles because the article in the OP seems to wander back and forth between the bottle being Vodka and/or Cognac….

I can remember the old days when all the police did in Tallahassee was cover up crimes by the football players. I don't think they had time for anything else.

Good god she must be the stupidest cop to walk the planet. Where do they find these people?

At this point it appears that her entire chain of command is involved in a cover up. Every one involved in the cover up is by definition a bad cop.

And since the chief of police is involved in the cover up does that mean there isn’t a good cop in Tallahassee? (Insert FSU joke) How can any Tallahassee police officer testify in court after this?

Other than the standard answer of "she's a racist", what is the motivation for these assholes to do this?
Boredom on a long uneventful 8 hr shift? Bitterness about the job or something happening at home? Do they get a bonus in their paycheck for a DUI arrest? More arrests lead to a promotion to get more money? Or maybe it's just a simple matter of they feel insignificant and the job of a cop gives them an inflated sense of power. There has to be a reason for the bad cops to behave this way.

I am told that they don’t have quotas, but there are ways of incentivizing people without strict quotas.

I have no idea the motivation on her part. What interest me more is the motivation of the whole chain of command. It’s an us verses them mindset and we are all them.

Probably should have asked for a blood test at that point.

Why do some people with power like to bully other people? Some just seem to enjoy it. I remember hearing a quote once, "anyone that really wants to be a cop shouldn't be allowed." I'm still not convinced this isn't deceptive reporting/editing to make it look worse than it was, but even if it is, there are still some things in that video that should not have happened and I'd be inclined to acquit the guy if I was on his jury.

I've had similar experiences. Folks simply don't know how difficult being a cop is. Accountability is essential, but generalizations are wrong.

Okay I have watched the body cameras and her testimony. In my opinion everybody from the arresting officers to the chief of police and the prosecutor and the presiding judge need to be locked up. It’s obvious that for whatever reason the female officer opened a bottle emptied it and tossed it back into his car. How the prosecutor and the judge are seriously planning on using that “open” bottle flummoxes me. He is going to own the whole city when this is over.

The guy was driving with a suspended license so they had him locked up for that but that wasn’t enough for them.
