I'm sure many non believers see Christianity everywhere in American culture and American politics and would prefer that it had less influence than it does. Interestingly, though, many Christians have lamented for decades that the United States has turned its back on God and is going to suffer the consequences for it.

It means Dawkins favors a culture fostered by Christianity, where he's free to mock and disparage Christianity and be recompensed handsomely in the process, vs a culturally Islamic land, under which he would be promptly subjected to torture unto death, should he fail to convert to the Islamic faith, otherwise known as "the religion of love."

As a Bible believer, I doubt that God is sitting on his heavenly seat regarding developments in the US. Where the US and it’s people are concerned, I suspect that the reap-sow principle has broad application.

That's because the memo isn't drilled into ppl at gun point or under penalty of torture, incarceration, and forfeiture of all assets and status, like your ppl (the commies) do wrt their militant atheism.

"Culturally Christian" = free to celebrate Christian holidays, enjoy the benefits of Christian civilization, and in particular, their hard fought virtue of religious freedom, without having to be bound by any of the undermining sticky beliefs, like the virgin birth, the Resurrection, or God forbid, the Holy Eucharist actually encompassing the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Jesus Christ..

Looks like Christian culture has also fostered bigoty and chauvinism, like the kind you are expressing here.

So its a kind of 'free rider' thing, all the benefits, none of the responsibility. Sounds like communism or a welfare program, so dont you hate that?

Parasitical. But then every atheist I’ve is like an engorged flea, on a dog’s back, who declares “There is no Dog!”

Not a big fan of the ingratitude or the historical ignorance, but I'm all for tolerance and "ppl of good will" living and working together, and putting up with each other...

I say this as an unabashed beneficiary of such tolerance on multiple levels.

Can you even acknowledge that you too are such a beneficiary?

Atheists and agnostics demand scientific evidence for God, appeal to authority on viruses.

The unmitigated gall of some. As I told you before, my Christian religion would most definitely not be considered to be a fundamentalist religion and it is objectively superior to yours.

Have you listened to anything he has said before? Or did you even watch the video. He said to the extent that belief has gone down that is good but to the extent that the culture diminishes, not necessarily so. He said to the extent another religion like Islam takes its place he thinks is bad, because Islam is markedly worse than Christianity.

But after years of being chastised by Christians for his atheism and evolutionary views, it’s good that he’s now having his day in the sun with Christian’s.

    Lol! What???

    Chauvinistic and bigoted?

Let Dawkins go to an Islamic country of your choosing, slander Islam in the same manner as he's slandered Christianity, openly declare that Allah is a fictitious fabrication made up by the Muslims....

...and then tell me my assertion is bigoted/Chauvinistic...

He'll, he pretty much said that in the interview.

I made the statement I did with the historical decline of the mainline denominations in the 1900s in view. Some of their congregations have dwindled to the point where they are on the brink of extinction as denominations. Where did those people go? They did not do a full on retreat back to authentic Christianity, but I would say they did a full on conversion to "worship of the creature rather than the Creator." "Worship of the creature rather than the Creator" is what I believe to be the dominant religion in the west today. It is the dominant religion of people who post on Too Hot IMO. That can manifest itself in several ways, but there is a dominant form of "worship of the creature" that has emerged in this day and time.
