My own view is that Biden is much better than the right cries, and not nearly as good as the left claims. But his performance so far, at least in my eyes, is borderline irrelevant.

I don’t want an >80 President. I don’t think a man of that age can handle the presidency. This obviously goes for both of our candidates — neither of them should be running for President.

I think Biden’s decision to run for re-election was the height of selfishness. His arrogance has given Trump the age-fodder to permit those who believe Trump is morally unfit an excuse to hold their nose and vote for him. I’m a never-again Trumper, period, but I know others that are thinking of crossing that line, something which a year ago was beyond comprehension.

And if he loses, I think history will judge him harshly for this selfish act.

Get over it, he's running and it is a choice. No candidate is perfect but Biden has accomplished far greater good for the country than Trump and is a decent person, old man and all.

The economy is on FIRE! Best by far in the developed world.

    https://www.cnbc.com/2024/04/04/bid...best-trump-claims-cesspool-data-is-clear.html

We had more fiscal stimulus than any other country and that is part of the reason why the U.S. has recovered from the Covid depression better than any other country,” said economist Josh Gottbaum, a former White House and Treasury Department official in both Republican and Democratic administrations, currently a guest scholar at the Brookings Institution.

America’s stimulus safety net came with a hefty price tag, leaving the U.S. with a much larger budget deficit than other countries. But it also kept the economy afloat, by providing a cushion so that companies did not have to execute mass layoffs that might have spiraled into a recession.

It means the relative price of gas is lower than anytime since 1974.

Thanks for the thoughtful reply on his record which I'll summarize as: he's too old which makes him irrelevant. That really makes no sense. His administration is either consequential or it isnt. His age is a handicap for sure but, it hasnt affected the administration from my perspective other than to provide fodder for his opponents who would tear down Harris or Newsome or Buttigieg for some other reason.

This is undeniable. Would be nice to see some of the righties here who were insistent we would be in a recession right now at least acknowledge that the soft landing was achieved.

I kind of agree here but can you provide an example of Biden’s age resulting in a negative outcome for anything with regards to his presidency?

I can’t think of a time in 4 years where his age prevented him from effectively doing his job.

Because intelligent sparing, even if passionate and with barbs, is exciting, and enlightening. Often it has the effect of one modifying one’s own views. Few things are black or white, but are many shades in between.

CityGator stated his views (with a barb or two) very thoroughly. One doesn’t have to agree with him, but to insult him with a funny or come on man is inexcusable to me, and a disagree without more is lazy.

So, respectfully, you ought to “bother” or not comment at all. I realize all of us, especially me, often cross the line into rudeness, but we ought not.

No President has ever had to face down anything like that Darkest Day when selfie-taking eccentrics place feet on Nancy Pelosi’s desk and then went home when police told them to.

The toll it has taken on him. He was 43 when he took office and now looks like an 81 year old man.

Imo one item Biden is underrated for is rallying nato support at the start of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. learning a mistake from Obama, Biden released intel before the war of what Russia was doing. And he led everyone to a common support effort. Without him, we would be reading about russia’s occupation and human atrocities in Kyiv.

But he is overrated on the economy. Our gov is running trillions of dollars over budget (albeit that’s Congress). What happens to th3 economy if we pay our own way? But a lot of that blame is on the prior admin for cutting taxes for the wealthy.

Can’t blame the border on him as much as there was a border bill with teeth that maga voted down. Maga putting trump over country.

I don’t think your response addressed my post at all, but I hope you feel better for writing it. Regardless, we can agree that Biden is the better choice than Trump.

I think he had been an adequate but flawed President. He’s George Washington next to Trump, but I pray that is not the bar we judge the efficacy of a President. And my response was not based in what he has done so far, it is that he will be too old in the next term. He ran in 2020 with the implicit understanding that he was a one-termer, running as a candidate that could defeat the then-incumbent. I don’t feel that he will be fully capable of running our country in his 80’s on his second term. Yes, even an absent President would be better than the morally unqualified Trump, but forgive me if I don’t do summersaults at the prospect of having Biden at the helm for 4 more years.

The pressure and stress of being President is constant and crippling. look at how all of our leaders age while in office. When I reference is age, I am not referring to his past performance ; I am talking about how I THINK his performance will be in the next 4 years. And I THINK he will degrade mentally and physically. Note, I think the same about Trump.

My only real major issue with him is his age going into the second term. I can find faults and disagreements here and there but objectively he has accomplished a lot in a more difficult than average environment.

It was a short answer and not intended to be condescending, my apologies if taken that way. I look at what Biden has accomplished, both for the country in infrastructure, healthcare and paving the way for innovation, as well as his foreign policy in aligning our global partners against Russia and China (tripartite agreement). He understands how quiet diplomacy leads to important outcomes for the US and world security. He uses his cabinet and advisors effectively and they have stuck with him, which is a sign of their belief in the direction of the country. I don't think just looking at his age can predict how he will run the country.
