Three weeks into the SEC schedule, D1Baseball has created an early bracket. They seed the Gators at #12, paired with #5 Oregon St. Their Gainesville Regional has 2. Kansas St, 3. Miami and 4. Army. My prediction is that none of those Gator-related guesses will prove accurate. Gators still are developing the team that will be playing in late May and June. I REALLY hope it will be a strong, consistent team then, but it also may be battered by tough conference opponents. Many other teams will be better or worse than D1 predicts, but I'm too focused on Gators to care about the others,
I would kill for a top 8 seed, but that seems highly unlikely given what we have seen and what remains on the schedule. Honestly I will be happy to host a regional
Not that i give much if any value to anything from D1, but heres their mid season projections... LSU in at all bc? and a 2 seed? lol same ol D1,, name on front of jersey is about as far as they go 2024 Midseason Field of 64 Projections • D1Baseball I asked them(Rogers in this case responded) what the difference between LSU and say Ole Miss or Auburn... His response,, "we are projecting how it will finish" So I then asked..so this will be D1 only projections? and you wont release a new one every week rest of year??..... crickets. lol Liars on top of incompetent.
Not to pile on Lsu, but heres a crazy stat. They dont have 1 player Top 10 in SEC in any of the followng. BA, OBP, Slg, Runs scored, Hits, RBI, HR, or Total Bases. Holman does lead in ERA and up there in few other categories. Only lsu P Top 20 in anything.
The way that we've played to date and with weekend rotation still in flux, our hitting taking a bit of a dive a #12 seed is not too bad. We are currently #21 in RPI -- some of those mid-week sting. Still half the season to go so way too early to predict but look at our SEC schedule after Mizzou... it only gets harder from here. A sweep in CoMo would be sweet but I'll take 2 of 3. Go Gators
It won’t be easy but I think this team is capable of winning 5 of our remaining 7 SEC series. If that happens and some misfortune befalls some other highly ranked teams then I like our chances. Also have to make sure we win our midweek games haha.
UF has had the #1 SOS since week 3, taking it away from St Johns..lol Lots of road games my only explanation on this, at least pre sec. But either way the lofty SOS will keep the RPI high, baring a collapse.
I wonder with UF losing the MizzU series will the committee look at our season with more of a negative overall or will they still remember us winning the TA&M, MSU, and LSU series. Obviously there's plenty more games to play but we sure have put up a stinker this weekend so far. It kind of makes the mid week loses make more sense at this point.
I’ve always observed that people remember the longest the last thing they see you do—but in this scenario the whole body of work is weighed. It just depends on where and how they put the spotlight on you. So yes we’re talking about the politics of the game and that’s also attached to the GodAlmighty dollar. And they cut that pie anyway they want to. For clarity sake in my use of the word “they” I am referring to the NCAA and the media.
