FAMU comes to town with their entire collection of GR/SR pitchers. I've never seen so many Graduates and Seniors on one roster. It might be interesting! My favorite memory of Jamey Schouppe is the look on his face at the end of game 2 of our Super Regional in 2005….priceless! Let’s put that look on his face again!
They were a scrappy bunch last year in the regionals. Sounds like they might have returned most of that team?
Every team on the schedule is competitive. A win is a big deal, but developing players to win the SEC and win in the post season is most important- and this team NEEDS that development. It would be nice to dominate with frosh getting successful playing time.
After an exciting weekend, the dreaded weekday game is here. Let's hope Rhino is ready. I'm wearing my lucky socks. Put your lucky rabbit's foot or shamrock or what ever in your pocket and enjoy another Gators baseball game. I'd settle for us scoring 3 runs per inning and a shutout.
I get Slater as a starter because he needs the work and IIRC he didn't pitch at all last weekend. But the routine for a starter is a totally different routine from out of the pen and he is an essential part of our pen mostly as a set-up man/long reliever. I wouldn't mess with that. But Sully is paid the big bucks and I am not. Perhaps he is thinking the long game where you might need a fourth starter. But Cade Fisher could be that guy. I am a bit confused on this but like I said Sully is paid the big bucks.
Slater as a starter thus far this season hasn't exactly been successful....of course a small sample size.
If Sully sees Cade get into a rhythm, I wouldn't be shocked if he slides him into the Saturday night starter.
@wingtee I hope you are not taking tonight for granted, this team run-ruled the team that just beat LSU in a midweek game. Baseball vs Southern University on 2/25/2024 - Box Score - Florida A&M Go GATORS! ,WESGATORS
Our hitters will need to be both patient and aggressive tonight—don’t chase the off speed stuff outside of the zone and attack those hung frisbees as the ensemble of Earls hang them over the plate. I say that knowing Jamey Schouppe’s “fix-it-all” approach with pitchers. It doesn’t matter if they’re RHPs or LHPs he drops their arm slot down to sidearm or submarine and calls 80-85% breaking balls and change ups. Patience and punish the mistakes guys, patience and punish the mistakes.
