I find my bias that republicans are unintelligent reinforced generally by maga not necessarily republicans in mass though. Makes me an outlier though as most people think their opponents are just stupid. I've never considered Republicans stupid.Their Weltanschaung just differs from mine. MAGA Republicans are another story. The are not well read and are governed more by emotion than by reason.
Exactly this. I am a registered Republican because where I live the primaries are usually the election. When I lived in town Atlanta I was registered as a democrat for the same reason. I have disagreed with positions of just about everyone at one time or another. Trumpism is an entirely different ballgame. His hardcore supporters are incapable of logic.
I think more than anything the different views that each party traditionally had as to how this country should function and what the role of government should be (which for 200+ years was largely healthy and often resulted in the correct consensual path forward) has been obliterated by the confluence of social media, Citizens United and gerrymandering to the point of there being almost no way back to functional governance. I’ve lived in GA (metro Atlanta) for 3+ decades and can unequivocally say that many of my brighest and closest friends are traditional conservative Republicans who never voted otherwise (in federal elections-they still often do in state and local ones) until the day that Sarah Palin showed up. That aside, the abject idiocy shown by those who have large platforms and say things like “the state must follow the church” or that “everything should be free” or subscribe to every 4-Chan conspiracy theory or deep fake MUST eventually be placed back into their rightful boxes of ignorance or infeasibility or eventually this country is going to implode.
I really don't see a way it doesn't get worse. There are a number of political hateporn accounts that I follow just to observe. It's getting worse and people are just mindlessly and emotionally reactive to anything that vilifies the opposition. They embrace it immediately and reject due diligence. I've mentioned one particular right wing site before but it's definitely a both sides thing although I see more violent rhetoric from the right wing sites. Neither are healthy. Ryan ohandley runs DCdraino and it's an obvious grifter page yet his followers foam at the mouth with most of his posts. I will say that he has gone too far on a few occasions and several members have said as much but they get drowned out and forgotten with the next hatepost. He also sells merchandise, shocker...

Not really related to the original post because I don't represent everybody, but I don't think the left is unintelligent. I think they have a skewed sense of justice, they often-times have good intentions, and they would prefer "doing something" even if it means bad policy because they get the feeling that they (or the policies they favor) play a significant role in helping the little guy (even when it does the exact opposite). And I'd rather get out of the middle class's way than redistribute money and resources from the upper and middle classes to chronic members of the lower classes that will remain in the lower classes as long as they continue self-destructive behaviors, no matter how much money you give them.
I suspect--barring apparent compromises to the system, as occurred last time. Better question: when the dems get kicked the hell out of power, will they/you respect the decision of the ppl, or continue to fabricate so much bullshit like the Russian pee pee tape, Russian hoax, crap impeachments...?
