Can never be understated the incredible run the Gator football/hoops teams went on. My (not so) humble brag about those years. After taking lumps as a late 80s/early 90s undergrad and experiencing the growing euphoria of Gator sports fandom . . . esp. with the arrival of HBC in fall 90 (undergrad '93), I went on to a grad degree and then teaching career. Returned to UF in '05 and got to be a student again, which were the greatest years of my life. Not only was it invigorating to be back in college and studying, I was back at UF and was on campus for two hoops & two football natties. It won't get better than that for me as a sports fan.

 

I would take it.

 

Bama was no better than UF. IF the refs were worth a shit, who knows, maybe the Gators were headed there,.

pretty good coaching from Oats -- they had a game plan and the expected points had them up 11 from their analytics team, so they stuck with it and prevailed. Same thing with the UNC game, make their role players beat you, and those guys couldn't buy a bucket in the 2nd half besides Ryan who hit some incredible shots.

don't forget duke/unlv 1990 and 1991 -- duke loses by 30 to unlv in the finals, and the next season in the final four duke disrupts unlv who was on a 45 game winning streak to advance to championship game.

 

Just ask NC State fans about corrupt refs. Even though they beat Duke, NC State fans are up in arms about the refs trying to steal the game (phantom fouls, BS Technicals, etc) for Duke.

 

Yeah. They tried to job them in the ACC tourney as well. If they dont win the tourney, they don't make it in. Which means no final four year for NC state.

 

It's NC State. They always get jobbed by the refs

 

Baseball played Texas in the CWS championship series if u recall
