    Here's a long, but great blog on Fermi's Paradox I read years ago. It covers the "Great FIlter" hypothesis well and suggest a myriad of other explanations for the reader to chew on.

    Its interesting that Darwin's survival of the fittest was not mentioned in the article - or in any I've read on the subject. I can't conceive of any other way for life to evolve. If it's the only way, it seems to me to be ultimately destructive. At least, that's what I see around me and why I always refer to Homo sapiens as an invasive species.

    Here is a wild piece of news in the field of astronomy: astronomers just witnessed the brightest explosion since the Big Bang. A giant star in the constellation Sagitta went supernova, producing a massive gamma ray burst (GRB). The GRB is ten times larger than anything previously recorded. The burst was so bright, in fact, that they had to wait six months to look at it directly with the telescope. They believe that this type of event occurs once every 10,000 years.

    One unusual feature is that they expected to see gold and other heavy metals produced in the explosion, but that did not happen.

    I'm normally with you 515151 but, in humor, timing is everything - this is about two weeks late. However, nothing written previously answers the ubiquitous question(s) that pervade all of TooHot: How did Trump screw this up; and, is Sagitarius A-Hole the only hole bigger than the Donald?
