I hear you, but to make it sink in you have to have them know that it was an on"purpose pitch".

Agree completely—that’s why Brady Singer’s hard running 2-seamer was so valuable.

I know, I know. You can't put a guy in the dirt and then stare him down. If you do it, you have to look at your glove or your hand like it did something wrong and look apologetic towards home plate.

If he doesn't know what it's going to do, the hitter sure don't. :emoji_laughing:

All of the what we always called “showboating” used to be policed by the players themselves. Now between the media, the showboating entitled players, the ego driven umpires we have situations on the field that are worse than when players policed themselves IMHO.

Anything happens on the field and immediately the HP umpire snatches his mask off and charges both dugouts issuing a warning against retaliatory actions……so theoretically the team that draws first blood gets away with it as the warning handcuffs the other team….BS

A lot of the "feel good" rules and legislation has backwards effects.

That's why we all called that pitch a "Singer".

    LOL.

I saw in person Mario Soto versus Fernando Venezuela at Riverfront. Two head hunters. I can't remember who hit a homer but the next time up after a first pitch strike I told my friends "He is going down on this next pitch".

Of course he did and they were all like "How did you know that?"

I was just thinking to myself "Haven't you ever watched baseball?"

These were kids that grew up with the Big Red Machine.

    I was stunned.

I remember an instance of reverse chin music. I dont remember the circumstances of why but a team (L.A. Dodgers?) was throwing at Claudell Washington (Atl Braves) every.single. at bat. and every pitcher for like 3ABs. I think he danced out of the way from most of the pitches - maybe got hit once. BUT the next time he got up the bat was slick or sweaty for some reason and when he swung it went helicoptering out just over the pitcher's head landing around 2nd base and then both dugouts came out to discuss the matter. Without knowing the backstory, at that point I didn't blame Claudell

Nice prediction. They all were slumped over the dugout railing watching with sad expressions. I yelled as loud as I could- with a mini megaphone- but I'm not sure how clearly they could hear. Shelnut is the Gator taking offense at the end of the vid and a couple of dingers was the right way to shut down the mahi mahi. Much better than any other sort of response to their behavior.

They kinda remind me of a one hit wonder rock’n’roll band…
