So when do you expect to see employment in the hospitality sector decline in California? As of the last data, it is still growing, as it has continuously over the last year.

That is the industry that covers all food service and lodging. Still increasing in employment in California as of February 2024, which is the last measure currently available.

Up from 1,990,000 employees last year to 2,032,400 employees this year.

Pizza places here have been reducing delivery staff for some time here too (its outsourced to Doordash/Uber Eats ... who basically dont operate as employees). Sounds like wage increases are just accelerating the process.

Also, this is at least the second time you started the same thread about this law.

Everything California does is the exact opposite of what you should do as a state. It makes it easy for other governors to do the right thing and not make the same stupid mistakes. . It's the ultimate ack of public service. Got to give Gavin credit for that.

California is a micro-version of what the Dems have in store for the U.S.A. The Socialist/Communists found out long ago that it's hard to take a healthy middle class working Capitalist country and force upon them their Socialist/Communist demands and governance.

So, how do you get rid of the middle class? Kill small businesses... that is what California is in the middle of doing. And $20/hour minimum wage is one way to achieve that.

The unions need to grow in numbers and they brain-dead Liberals need their base voters to earn a "living wage" so that they can procreate faster.

In the end... more automation and robots are a good thing. Maybe the machines can get my fast food order right.... Lol.

Some people, not having had a fair slice themselves, just can’t stand anyone else having a fair share of the incredible wealth in America. And if you’ve had your fair share, how pathetic to begrudge anyone else theirs.

Yeah, California is doing everything wrong. Their GDP is the same as Texas and Florida combined and yet they have 14 million less people. They need to drive down that GDP per capita to be like their betters.

To be fair to the OP, shouldn't you wait to see what the job numbers do AFTER the law goes into effect?

By the same token, shouldn't the OP have waited?
