Just filed my sunbiz. I usually file it in Feb, but have been travelling. WHY, for those that know do I need to spend $138.75 every year to tell them that NOTHING has changed? It is not very much, but why?
I thought it was the Florida website that you pay your business license thru. I have been retired for awhile so I may be off.
If you don't file on the last day of April like I do every year, you're no friend of mine! For those that don't know you have to do this dumb annual renewal that takes about 5 seconds and costs $150 or whatever. It is just corporate ownership info for Florida. But if you file late it jumps to like $500. It's dumb
Not filing indicates something has changed. Seems there a number of reasons the state wants to know if you intend to continue operating in Florida, one being the name and address of you registered agent. Also, filing and maintaining an active status allows the state to provide a certificate of good standing in the event you should ever need such.
There are immigrants in Texas that need to be flown to Martha's Vineyard and books that need to be reviewed and banned..
Your business entity can get administratively dissolved for failing to file an annual report as well. So filing your SunBiz renewal is important, even if seemingly silly.
Just a random thought. My town makes us pay a $50 fee every year for running a business. My water bill is stupid since all we do is flush the toilet a few times a day but I have to pay the minimum. Mostly in sewer costs. My employees must lay some big ones to get that much sewer cost. It all adds up and that is why things cost what they do.
We are $75… The weird one for me is the tangible tax. Don’t know why that one bothers me. I get the property tax. But the tangible is annoying for some reason…
Some years ago, Florida had an intangible tax. Businesses and individuals were taxed annually on the FMV of receivables and investments they held. And if my recollection is correct, the state considered a money market account to be a taxable investment. I believe Jeb Bush was governor when it was killed.
to do the upkeep on the database and so there is record of no change and to verify that your llc's (?) are still active. I pay it for 3 for I feel you
you pay a minimum to supply the facilities. those pipes, pumps, plants have to exist if you use them or not. you do the same for power. a business license documents that you are not the most recent gypsy to hit town. it helps an informed consumer and helps the town know that you are insured and/or licensed to operate the business you are running.
