IIRC, it's actually a multi-drug therapy used for treatment, but leprosy is a highly curable disease. It hasn't really been a thing since antibiotics and soap became prevalent.
All I know of leprosy I learned in a series of fantasy novels. Thomas Covenant I think. I realize this doesn’t make me an authority. I remember reading the series and then being amazed that leprosy was bacterial and treatable by antibiotics.
Measles panic waning. Need a new disease! Think something like Andromeda Strain would be cool, something communicable (like a virus is supposed to be) but that proceeds to melt your organs immediately. But Trump could still hog the headlines.
