He still got booked? Looks like ETN found out that special treatment when it comes to arrests, is only given if you're at the TOP of the depth chart for your position
Surely NIL contracts have “behavioral” clauses in them, right? So his contract should be null & void now. Ridiculously though he’ll still get his bi-weekly direct deposit for the rest of the year. He’ll also be allowed to play in most if not all the games this season. If Kirby had any cojones, and he doesn’t, he would run ETN out of Athens immediately. Even more so knowing the recent history there. He really doesn’t need him, his roster is stacked with 5* like cordwood. He won’t do it though because it would send a message to future uber talented rutabagas that UGA won’t be a safe haven when you get in trouble with the law. Basically the same policy Bobby had back in the day, boyz will be boyz. Pathetic, imho.
I’m pretty sure Georgia opens with Clemson. I’ll be fascinated to see if they suspend him for the first game or “defer” the suspension to, UT Martin, or whatever.
Two people died in Athens died last year. There were wrist slaps all around. What makes anyone the Kirby, the administration or the Athens PD will do anything with this? I can not understand why parents would send their kids there seeing Clarke County streets turning into race tracks.
Hmm...maybe that's why Etienne went to UGA-- because the players clearly can do whatever they want- up to and including getting into fatal accidents. I used to wonder what kind of parent would let their kid play for Bowden then Jimbo, then I figured it out... Parents let their kids go to FSU to be sure their babies can get away with almost any kind of behavior. In Gainesville players were arrested for throwing sandwiches and getting their OWN car out of an impound lot.. Or 'barking at a police dog." In Tally players get away with rape, beating women, etc, and the whole town celebrates. It's a feature, not a bug...
Distant, in addition to celebrating in Tally, they run the victim out of town. I wonder if Kirby has sadly hit on something. Go get the best players regardless of character or background. And make damn sure the Athens PD, Clarke Co. PD are on board. And make sure the players call the "magic" attorney or "fixer" first.
My guess is they don’t even do that. It’s early in the year, they’ll just say we’re handling all punishment for this verrrry minor infraction in house . No way he suits up for Clemson and then sits for Tennessee Tech, even Kirby dumb is not that dumb. Even if they do sit him for one game, what does that really do? What should happen is his NIL gets yanked and they tell him, if you want to play ball, fine, no $$$ though. Obviously there is a less than zero chance that happens. NIL, pay for play, smh.
I would only add their Fixer is NOT an attorney (as I understand it) and is NOT a member of the police department or District Attorney's office. He has zero legitimate place in the middle of any investigation or booking procedure (or, perhaps, conveniently there to advise, say, not to take an implied consent test?). Just speaking generally and certainly not for young ETN. Although I've been out of it for awhile . . . and don't know the laws in Georgia anyway . . . it seems the Fixer's presence and involvement could cause serious problems for the police department and D.A. in other similar cases. I do still remember the pesky U.S. Constitution. LOL!
ET I think you are correct. I can't remember the guys name but he was first on the scene when those two kids lost their lives. Got there before the cops. It is beginning to look like Tally years ago. But this has happened so me times the cops have to be on board with the fixer.
How do people drink and drive? Apparently not too well. It's hard to stay on those dirt back roads in GA.
How? The exact same way they did before rideshare et al: arrogance, stupidity, and selfishness. Timeless qualities. They will still be there even after self-driving cars are the norm and people can legally get in their backseat and be taken home.
I just did a Google on this subject. You ae correct. NIL's can or should have "Morality Clauses". My gut feeling is that his NIL could be cancelled or maybe suspended for a period of time.
The more I read and hear, the more I am glad ETN is gone. Yes, he was a really talented runner and could catch (but not block). But his attitude, his behavior, and his family really make him someone I don't want our program associated with. I know they don't care about any of it at UGA...but they will eventually get what's coming to them...and perhaps ETN will too. He need to learn a lot of lessons (as does his momma).
I would have assumed it would take at least an hour and a half just for him to sign all the Agusta Police departments autographs and even more if he "allowed" them to take some selfies.
