Wow!!! I had an out of town errand and missed the game, but I recorded it to watch. I still need to know what happened. As bad as this team is, they must have had a lot of sac bunts, right? Did they bring in a bunch of portal players??? Maybe spent NIL$? Those are the answers they needed, right? Can't win in the SEC if you can't bunt, RIGHT?
There’s some pretty funny stuff over there for sure! One was “we got our a$$ run-ruled two Sundays in a row—thank God we don’t play next Sunday…. They go to Fayetteville—guess they must be playing Arky in a Thursday through Saturday series.
Growth is an understatement and #TrustinSully **Cags one of top arms in country ** Bullpen and our Freshman growing up. And I’m not forgetting Liam, Pete Peterson… Only 4 1/3 but a true quality start as he battled and kept us in it Shelton a Bonafude dude! Tybo Has shown unbelievable growth and looks like a possible first team all SEC player
"I just think when you go through tough times (your) competitive character gets tested," LSU coach Jay Johnson said. "And we're going to need to elevate our grade on that test." Johnson had a long meeting with the team after the blowout loss that prompted his press conference with the media to not start until a half an hour after the game. "I said what I wanted to say," Johnson said. "It was essentially two things." To start the game, Hurd had surrendered just two hits through the first four innings. He didn't have his best slider but his breaking ball was giving the Gators (14-9, 4-2) fits and he wasn't leaving his fastball over the middle of the plate too often. But things changed for Hurd in the fifth. He allowed a leadoff single and got a strikeout for one out but gave up a two-run home run to surrender LSU's 1-0 lead. "I know we were trying to throw the ball out of the zone with two strikes and that was the home run that (Colby) Shelton hit," Johnson said. "Good hitter obviously, as you saw the rest of the day." The next five Florida runs came with two outs. After a single, a groundout and a walk, first baseman Luke Heyman hit a two-run double to extend Florida's lead to four. The hit prompted Johnson to replace Hurd with left-hander Kade Anderson who allowed a two-run homer two pitches later that gave Florida the 6-1 lead. Anderson allowed two more runs on a two-run homer in the sixth inning that barely got over the wall down the left field field line to give Florida a six-run lead. "They have good hitters," Johnson said. Before the two-run homer in the sixth, Jared Jones hit a solo home run to cut the LSU (19-6, 2-4) deficit to four in the bottom of the fifth inning. But as he was rounding the bases, he shared a few words with Florida first baseman Luke Heyman, causing both dugouts to receive warnings from the umpires. Hayden Travinski eventually struck out to end the inning but not before Johnson came out from the dugout and started yelling at home plate umpire Michael Banks over something Johnson claims Caglianone said to Travinski after he struck out. Johnson's behavior resulted in him getting ejected almost immediately. It was the first time Johnson has been ejected as LSU's coach. "I don't know if the umpire deemed whatever (Caglianone) said not worthy of being ejected. But to me, there's no point in giving a warning if you're not going to do something about it when something happens 30 seconds after you issued the warning," Johnson said. "I have different feelings on getting ejected and what it means. You know, I'll be staying in the game from this point forward for this year, at least with this team." Johnson did not view his ejection as helpful for his team, despite standing up for Travinski. "I've felt this way for a long time so this isn't specific to this team. I think they just look at it (like) 'Man, coach is losing his poise so something's really wrong,' " Johnson said. "So I don't think (getting ejected) has any value. And it clearly didn't have value for our team today." As for the rest of LSU's offense, their only other run came in the fourth inning on a single from Ethan Frey that was mishandled by Tyler Shelnut in left field, allowing Josh Pearson to score. Florida only surrendered three hits all afternoon. And after taking a hold of the game in the fifth and sixth innings, the Gators scored four runs on three home runs in the eighth inning to win via the 10-run rule. "After being ejected, I watched every pitch. And it was not a good effort," Johnson said. "... I mean, on the TV that was really tough to watch. That was like (if) you're dead and then you're actually able to watch your life play out. And I would be disappointed if I was actually dead and I was watching that happen.
There’s no doubt Travinski was running his mouth after that strikeout. Jac answered back or maybe prompted it?
Love how @Gatorgal04 who never misses a pitch or a swing …but still manages time out of her busy schedule to comment on male grooming. AWESOMENESS You’re the BEST! Lol
After a few hours of reflection that was completely badass and we owed them after that cocky showing last year. I know it is early and a long season to play but that was great.
In fairness, they may have been a little shaken up over blowing the 7-run lead in the bottom of the 9th the day before. Go GATORS! ,WESGATORS
After the strikeout Cags said something as he was walking to the dugout then Travinski grabs his crotch and responds. Not sure the LSU coach saw that or the ump but I know the ump heard both. Not really a big deal but it was the next batter after the warning. Did LSU really think the ump was going to toss Cags?? Doubt it!
It's not over till we're done celebrating that series win at The Box. The Gators kicked them in their box... Lol.
