Depends on the offensive foul. Over the back is free throws. Ball handler offensive fouls are not.

I don't recall stating that I took any issue with your opinion. It's your etiquette that I find lacking.

i respectfully disagree. We were not a good defensive team, and some of our guys were pretty poor defenders.

Pullin played the guy about as well as anyone could. There is absolutely no way I would want Kugel defending the guy on that play. Aberdeen? Who knows? Also, was it an automatic that the guy was going to be the player with the ball?

This should make you realize your eye test is wrong. We were 328 out of 351 in points allowed per game. Some
of that is pace but the advanced numbers confirm we are trash.

You can make the case it’s the worst unit in our modern football/basketball history. Maybe the Muschamp offenses take the cake but it’s close

Numbers do not always tell the complete story. Did we typically allow more points than our opponents’ average? Did we play higher scoring competition? Is overtime a factor? If you paid attention to what I said, though, I was complimentary of individual defense moreso than team defense. You can’t look at Clayton, Pullin, Richard, Kugel, Samuel, Condon, etc… and honestly say they don’t challenge shots, shuffle their feet, hustle, and so on. They had good fundamentals individually. I’m not sure why the numbers reflect what they do. I’m not arguing what they are, but I’m telling you from my eye as an experienced player, I’m surprised by it.

I edited my prior post. It was uncalled for. You are a very knowledgeable poster and a very passionate fan, there is no doubt. Like I said earlier, don't let a dumbass like me ruffle your feathers. I am no one to you. So I gave you a come on man, so what? Doesn't change the facts I stated about you. You just keep doing you man, you're great for these boards and Gator Nation.

I love kid, but Clayton is not a good defensive player whatsoever.

I don’t want to bash our guys. But you could go down the list and nearly each player had some deficiencies that contributed to some poor individual and team defense… whether that be Kugel’s poor defensive discipline or our bigs not rotating when needed.

I mean, I don’t think there is really much case to be made that we were a good defensive group.

Pullin on Sears was a great display of what he can do. I think he had it out for that guy.

Top tier D1 level football defensive prospect is not good at defense? Here's what I saw from Clayton this year defensively... numerous chase down blocks where the rose up and swatted away layups and dunks like he was Shaq. He embarrassed many taller players. He also blocked quite a few jump shots and three point attempts, which is a rare feat. If you watch his feet and fundamentals playing defense, he shuffles his feet with expert precision and recovers quickly. I'm sorry, but I disagree with you completely.

Chase down blocks, yes. But they don’t happen often enough to make up for his fundamental weaknesses on D. You are certifiably wrong on his feet and recovery. He got abused by fast guards consistently, to the point our opponents were game planning for it.

And big part of it was fundamentals, not physical attributes. So his athletic ability and football skills are not relevant. He often got caught in bad defensive stance closing in on the ball handler and gave up a driving lane.

A lot of Gators underestimate the half-court defensive value he brought (or if I'm a Bama fan, he brung). Micah usually would get a couple of blocks per game but more importantly he altered a bunch of shots each game. He does need to get stronger, which might be difficult now. But at least he can work on upper body strength.

I guess I got blocked by the guy that called me Bruh and told me to log off. Haha. Only seeing the correct side of the conversation now. Too bad. I really enjoyed his insight and bold takes

I've heard CTG say that the defense is designed to make the other team take bad shots and not necessarily STOP the play or lead to a turnover. I think they did that but sometimes other teams just make everything like CO did. Will be interesting to see what type of transfers come in regarding the ability to play D.
