Ty Evans has really improved at the plate over last year. Kurland struggling of late. Maybe that hand injury is still affecting his play. 5 errors and lots of K's for a leadoff guy. Heyman has slumped a little at the plate as well. Need to get them going again, plus get soomething out of the bottom 1/3 of the lineup. And hope the freshmen pitchers stand tall today.
If you watch Kurland’s hands the way they come off the bat on a swing & miss (and there’s plenty of video for that) it just looks off. I think that his injury to his hand affects his swing somewhere between “trigger” and “follow through”.
Great point as Ty has really developed and taken the coaching for sure… There may be a case for moving him down in the lineup or I should say up in the lineup if he continues doing what he’s been doing. Love to see Sully make a couple lineup changes. Bottom line is even if somebody is “off “still should be making contact at some point and we’re not doing that at anywhere near the level. We need to be doing that
I'd like to see some changes in the lineup. Whether his hand is still a problem or not, Kurland is not helping in the lead-off spot. Whatever happened to Mummau? He looked solid in scrimmages, makes contact and is ouststanding on D. Very strange that he has gotten zero playing time. Same goes for Brookins-- looked good in scrimmages and I believe has only one AB. It's not like the regulars are killing it. Time to shake things up some. Sully's mantra use to be perform or sit... well? We're 12-9 folks....
What do we think of Evans leading off and moving Shelnut to the 3 hole? Evans has been getting on base with a bunch of multi-hit games lately and Shelnut leads the team in extra base hits. This would also keep the RLRL at the top of the order.
I think it's a great idea and worth a shot.. Heyman has not helped much of late and provides little "protection" for Cags. Drop Heyman into 5 hole with Ty moving to lead-off.
I’m going to go with Armando Albert to 2nd base from Kurland’s offense and defense of late. I also have no problem with Shelnut at 3rd base and sitting Thomas—move ahead with another outfielder in LF. The batting order is decided only by Sully. I would like to see Cags remain in the #2 hole—it helps keep the opposition from pitching around him. Ty is swinging the bat better as well as Shelnut. It would be nice to see a more intense approach for the entire AB from everybody in the lineup.
Well lineup adjustments are happening. Shelton at leadoff isn't a bad idea, he tends to see a lot of pitches per AB. Hopefully putting Cags back a spot won't disrupt his current success. I am curious to see how much longer we keep Garrison in the order if his bat doesn't wake up. I'm not sure if his defense is quite worth the tradeoff.

Can’t tell you how important that first AB was. Love to see guys that don’t swing for the fences and swing at pitches over their heads
