Such an odd mix of emotions…

This team… like most … will presumably see heavy attrition and roster turnover.
And so, my typical emotions are somewhat diluted by just not having the same team attachment to players who are “here and gone”.
Yet, my disappointment is simultaneously heightened by the awareness there is no “next year” for many of these guys, or this collective team. And I really liked this group.

The net result- I’m just kinda numb to it. And that sucks - because I enjoyed being really emotionally invested for many, many years.

    Anyone feeling the same?

I am. I was trying to connect to the internet my entire flight. I was hoping I'd land and see us cruising. Even watching that come back had me yelling at LGA in NYC. I loved this team. We should still be playing.

Just my luck that a flight I have scheduled for months is when our game was. I was pissed.

I thought I would be numb to it but I ended up really liking the players on this team. I’ll miss Pullin and Samuel a lot more than I thought I would a couple of one year rentals. Hopefully all the others will return (though it would be stupid to expect it) and we pick up a good PG and a banger inside so we can continue to restore the program

I think everyone eligible to return will besides Kugel and maybe Aberdeen if we get a stud transfer PG so I’m excited for next year. Just still heartbroken.

Serious question. Other than just because that is college sports these days, why do you expect heavy attrition? I think these guys really enjoy playing for Golden. You can tell Condon and Haugh are like brothers. I don't think they are going anywhere. No reason for Richard to leave. DA started getting a lot of minutes lately but maybe he starts seeing dollar signs and moves on. By all accounts RK has a great NIL package, but I could see him leaving just because of the minutes. Clayton? Doubt he transfers a second time with a wife and kid. Handy isn't going anywhere, or Shimmy. So maybe two guys. Am I just being stupid optimistic?

I'm hoping that we get a strong return. I have grown to really love this team, and their heart. Will miss Zyon and Tyrese.

I agree with a lot of this, I think this year we may escape mostly unscathed, it feels like a lot of this team is very close and they believe in what Coach is selling. I'm guessing that aside from the guys we suspect, there will be one surprise departure just because that's how things go these days. Clayton will need a healthy bump in his NIL.

It’s tough because this was the first team to really get excited for in a while. Having it end in the first round doesn’t feel fitting but that’s March. Our young players will hopefully continue to get better and we will add a bit.

this isn’t inside info and nothing more than speculation… but I think it’s possible RK moves on; and Clayton maybe opts to plays pro ball somewhere. Players like DA are wildcards.
Maybe we come out largely unscathed. We will see.

We need to get Clayton European Pro money via NIL next year.

The world is a wacky place these days. Trying to just enjoy the game for what it is - the best sport on earth - and not get caught up in all other stuff I can’t control (transfer, nil, etc).

Glad the transfers chose us. We’re back on the map, and TFG should be able to recruit a bit easier now.

Also, I stopped watching UF with the previous coach, so just thankful to watch an entire season again and always feel good after a game - regardless of the outcome.

so not numb at all. Feeling thankful we had a cool AF season to enjoy.

Sucks that it’s just over, but we never gelled defensively

Can Clayton even transfer without sitting? Regardless, he the big man on campus and might be the most loved Gator athlete in Gainesville right now. Leave and go where? If he’s allowed to transfer, I’m sure that pretty much every school in the nation would offer him, but ultimately I don’t see a reason for him to leave unless he gets NBA buzz.

Hopefully NIL keeps Clayton right where he is.

yes. You can transfer an unlimited number of times. But I don’t think that is a likely scenario for Walter. If anything, he may opt to play pro ball somewhere. I saw a tweet from a gator feed… Perhaps Brockway…that Clayton was “the non-committal” about returning next year.

I haven’t had this much fun during a Gator basketball season in a really long time. I’m disappointed but I lowered my expectations when Micah went down. I was very proud of the way we battled back in that game. I am excited for what Todd Golden is building here.
