I remember you were big about letting him go? The talent he has had every year 150 coaches would have won as much As Cal has.
Sure, but the recruiting advantages are gone. Done. Sayonara. The physical advantage is gone (see UK defense) Y'all lost to Oakland. . . . Oakland?! Ha! Maybe Cal is just fat n sassy.
Literally couldn’t have been cleaner block - and back the other way 5 on 4 and in the double bonus…. guy should have to explain himself
Meh. I think Cal is just outdated. He has two elite qualities about him: recruiting and getting a young team to gel Recruiting is self-explanatory. The gel part is that he basically wrote the book on getting a mostly-freshman team to play together well enough for a run in March. Before Knight, AD and that group went on their title run, that formula (a mostly freshman team) was basically considered impossible and untenable for a title run. So credit where credit is due. He's an exceptional recruiter and basically laid the mold for how to deal with the one-and-done players in the modern era. BUT Unfortunately for him, there isn't anything about his coaching or program that isn't easily copied. It wasn't long until coach K, Roy Williams and every major college program had adopted elements of development and recruiting from Cal into their own programs and how they deal with developing one and done players and incorporating them into the roster. And at that point, Cal had lost anything that made him elite vs other coaches. And he's a very average Xs and Os coach at best. The game and every major college program has caught up to and passed Cal. But the UK administration is still living in 2009-2014 and seemingly under the illusion that they are just one recruiting class away from returning to those days.
Also if Im TG Im watching for Oakland's Trey Townsend to hit the transfer portal for his senior year and be all over him like stink on you know what. 80% FT shooting big man, 16 points per game, averages 36 minutes a game (in other words, averages only 4 minutes of rest per game!), conference player of the year, and 35% from 3. And can clearly play in the SEC based on what he did to UK. Trey Townsend - Men's Basketball - Oakland University Athletics Drop him in the 3/SF position and let him go to work.
The ole presumption of contact foul. I didn't see it but I'm sure it happened. Needs to be addressed.
