It's the pubs that like the status quo not the Dems. Every time bipartisan comprehensive immigration reform legisaltion that has had a serious chance of enactment it's been blocked by Republicans and that includes comprehensive immigration reform legislation supported by President George W. Bush, a Republican as well as the "gang of eight" bill and most recently the bipartisan immigration bill that is being blocked by MAGA Mike at the direction of Demented Don (not a comprehensive bill but one that specifically addresses the current crisis at the border).

Other than the recent bill which is more limited and intended to address a specific situation, every comprehensive bill has included expanded guest worker provisions which would have gone a long way towards ending illegal immigration motivated by economics as well as ensuring the availability of noncitizen workers in industries in which there is a shortage of willing American workers, meatpacking and agriculture being prime examples.

If working at a meat packing plant is the best option for many citizens, then please explain why there are more job openings than unemployed? And there are over 7.5 million undocumented immigrants in our workforce, and Tyson has hired many of these immigrants because, for the most part, citizens don't want these jobs.

The fact is, working in a meat packing plant isn't the best option for the overwhelming majority of citizens today. Last time it was was likely circa 2011, during the last major recession. During this time, there was actually a net loss of undocumented immigrants in the US because more were leaving than coming into the country. Why? Because citizens were taking any job they could, including at meat packing plants. Today? They have better options.

    I agree with you.

But only one side has a leadership policy of repeatedly telling outright _____ing lies about other people and races in order to stir their base into a frenzy over problems which those leaders........have no intention of solving.

It's a con job : "You are threatened - and only I can save you!" (says the orange GOP con man politician who intends to actually do close to nothing to fix the problem.)

At least the Democrats aren't really lying about the issue, or encouraging people to be angry and hateful. It still amazes me how easily manipulated on this the Trumppublican voters are.

The immigrants work 13 times harder than the 1000 alleged Americans?

I think all politicians are scum. Personal experience would put that number at >95%. I see your point, but I don’t really get into the political rhetoric. At least one party is lying on any issue. The other one is up to something. In almost all cases, these are not mutually exclusive.

There was once legislation passed and signed that gave undocumented immigrants living here for years the ability to vote. That was Reagan's amnesty plan back in 1986. What party was Reagan a part of again? Since then, several pathways to citizenship along with an expanded guest worker program has been suggested. All have been opposed by the Rs, with the 2007 plan also opposed by Bernie Sanders and the far left. Strange bedfellows.

The far left in 2007 believed immigrants took our jerbs away from citizens. But that was proven not to be the case, and by 2013, with the Gang of 8, the far left was on board. So was President W. Bush, also a R.

Even under the Immigration Reform and Control Act undocumented immigrants were still not given the right to vote. They were granted amnesty but still had to complete the naturalization process which would have taken several years before they earned citizenship and the right to vote.

Why stop with immigrants, everyone in the world should get to vote in our elections. Any country that gets aid/ weapons, has a McDonalds, invaded or bombed by us has a vote, its only fair.

Nope. This is just your excuse to vote for a racist liar who is just conning the gullible on the issue of illegal immigration by repeatedly telling racist lies.

The parties are not the same - sorry. One is dragging our country into a vile moral abyss, where upstanding citizens no longer even express their opposition to, or disgust at, repeated racist lies. Instead they rationalize them.

Look! That's already happened to YOU!

They are. Asylum seekers are legally in the country and can apply for work once given permission.

That's not how our laws work. You don't just break into our country and DEMAND a job... and call yourself an asylum seeker after breaking our immigration laws.

That's not what I said... I don't care. I said that no one should be allowed into our country illegally and demand any kind of job. But yes, we all know most of these people are not here for jobs.

Illegal entry does not prevent a person from applying for asylum or change the process.

Asylum at the Border: Frequently Asked Questions | Immigration Lawyer - Abogados de Inmigracion - Deportation and Removal.

At the point that somebody is in the application for asylum process, they can also apply for permission to work. If that is approved, the asylum seeker can apply for jobs.

Nobody, citizen or not, is allowed to "demand" a job.

I hope this helps you understand the law better.

Pretty sure they are, and if not, they pretty much have to find one because there isnt really any other way to get by here. If people were demanding jobs, they arent demanding very good ones.

Maybe in your book the states should drop all charges of illegal entry into the U.S.A..
