Dawgs blow 23 point lead but hold on to beat Xavier in NIT. End game was fascinating. Overruled goal tending call that ties the game, but Xavier still got an in bounds play under Ga basket with 1.9 seconds left. Mugging occurred on last shot, but no call
Xavier went 3-9 in their conference. Georgia had an opening round NIT home game and nearly lost. That's....not...the best. Also, reading the AP wire report on ESPN, looks like AP is using AI to stitch together "articles" from game data. So it begins. Even the NIT can't get a human to write an article.
I just went and read the AP story. Ugh. I'm more disturbed by all this crappy AI "writing" than about the actual game.
Looking at Xavier's season, they played close games against Houston, Marquette, Creighton, and UConn, although losing all. They also beat some good teams, including Providence and Seton Hall. So they're a competitive team. Always are.
I watched the last several minutes, and had some really bad flashbacks. Georgia had a massive lead, then their offense went into a shell where they couldn’t score at all. They barely escaped. Brought back bad memories. On a change of subject, it is really disappointing that 17 teams opted out of the NIT. Georgia may not have even gotten in without all of those opt outs. To tell you how bad it was for the NIT, a 17-16 Georgia, got to host a 16-17 team.
I was about to pile on alongside you France, but then I remembered my own repping of CMW after he beat mediocre opponents in the past. So all I can do is golfclap.
Seen this story before. Bet Asa starts out looking good but gets worse year after year after Mike and team ruin him.
Mike White has done an objectively good job there, improved in year 1 and again in year 2. I’m more than happy with Golden now but don’t get why so many feel the need to pile on the guy, and don’t be shocked if they become a real player in the SEC.
We pile on the guy because he made us miserable for the last several years. As for his performance at Georgia, the team just went 4-12 in the 16 games leading up to the NIT.
