Guys, guys, you don't understand! I don't want well-reasoned, rational explanations backed up with facts. I just want an echo chamber to validate my emotional ventings. IS THAT SO MUCH TO ASK?
OK guys, which of these two 10s is a more favorable match-up for us (sans Micah)?? Opinions, please and GO GATORS!
Tough thing is that while all other tourney teams are prepping for their opponents, the Gators do not know who their opponent will be. We should probably expect CO, but Never know if the Smurfs might get hot. I'd rather play the Smurfs.
Metrics say Boise is the better team (and underseeded), but I think I'd rather take my chances with them over Colorado. Boise lost to every power conference team they played, granted there were only 3 of those games and they were all months ago. Colorado has more size to match up with Florida. But after watching Colorado St just now, maybe I'm underrating the MWC. CSU finished 7th in the MWC and just blew out the 3rd place ACC finisher.
Maybe they are we will see…but UVA lost to a 16 seed a few years ago and I don’t think we were massively underestimating UMBC. To say UVA’s tournament history is hit or miss might be a bit of an understatement.
Colorado getting a good player back from injury. Three talented players on roster. Have a big that Micah would have matched up against. How do we make up for the 20 minutes of roster flexibility lost?
I expect a very tough game, no matter who the opponent is. We need to have all our guys have solid-to-good games.
We need to avoid foul trouble among our bigs. We need Richard on target. I fully expect Pullin and Clayton to be on target. Riley will again be a wild card. The recent emergence of Aberdeen helps us with more quality minutes. He's a big guard and a good perimeter defender (better than Clayton) and can spell Pullin for a few minutes, although I expect Pullin to play 35 minutes or more; he's that important and has such Humphrey-like stamina he rarely even breaks a sweat. If we DO have foul trouble amongst the bigs, Aberdeen's size gives us a chance to go small (1 big, 4 guards). Will Richard could slide to the 4 and Denzel could play the 3. But this is not ideal at this point in the season.
