California should pass a law that says it's citizens cannot pay taxes in excess of what california receives back from the federal government. Would save them billions and clearly it would supercede federal law.

It just seems like the judicial branch including the USSC is just another partisan branch of government. What the constitution says seems to be very dependent on what party you belong to, and partisan majority preference supersedes precedent at this point.

I’d say the precedent this sets here is a fricken disaster for the union but given this court almost entirely ignores precedent I guess we’re safe…..

I don’t believe any precedent has been set.

The majority appear to be saying that if the 5th does not issue a ruling soon, then it can be appealed back to the Supreme Court. That’s when the merits of this law would be heard and based on precedent, it would be overturned.

It's the Show me your papers law. Makes me uneasy to consider that.

Precedent?... would be the obey the immigration laws that are already on the books. I know presidential EO's seem to carry more weight than they should, but we already have immigration laws.

Precedent: states can now apparently regulate immigration. Slippery slope regarding other issues where states may choose to disregard what has been the purview of the federal government.

As if it wasn't when Thurgood, Harry, and William were running the show. Plus the right never had an ace in the hole like Roberts has turned out to be for the left.

And now, the Fifth Circuit has put the law back on hold, finally dissolving its administrative stay.

Maybe... but they can regulate illegals in their states. Not sure that means they can just deport anyone.

If this is true the liberal plan to turn Texas blue and the US into the USSR may have hit a roadblock. The decision is not final:

The court declined to block a Texas law known as SB 4, which makes illegal border crossing a state crime and allows state officials to conduct arrests and deportations. The measure had been on hold as the high court weighed the federal government’s request to halt implementation during ongoing litigation. A federal district judge had enjoined the law after it was challenged by the Biden administration and immigrant-rights groups, but the Fifth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, in New Orleans, allowed SB 4 to go into effect at least for now.

The Supreme Court’s order, which split the justices along ideological lines, isn’t a final decision on the law’s constitutionality

Two of the three justices you named were appointed by Republican Presidents (Eisenhower and Nixon).

Yes, the guy that killed the voting rights act and Roe is such an ace in the hole for "the left" lol. We haven't had a liberal supreme court in my lifetime!

Illegals count in the census so Democrat states will continue to import illegals. That might get Democrats an extra 20 or so House sears per a tweet I read. Haven't done the math on it.

Why haven’t you done the math? Moderator, please make this guy eat a lab-grown burger with uncured bacon on top, all on a gluten-free bun.

Using your logic it would seem that Republican Governors Abbot and DeSantis have no problem with increasing representation from Democrat states since they're paying to transport illegals from Republican states to Democrat states. By the way the immigrants that both Abbot and Meatball Ron are relocating aren't even illegals but rather immigrants with pending applications for asylum or other temporary legal status since it's (ironically) illegal to transport undocumented immigrants across state lines.
