if those are correct, why would he even dress out. From the video above, I'm thinking No. 3 is not it. Hope he overed his issue and is ready to bring it.
My take is RK is a good kid and potentially great player; but, if I’m his coach, he has to stop the Pete Maravich passes that are stolen or kicked and stop any momentum dead in its tracks. It happens most times he’s on the court and is a liability. So, inasmuch as it keeps occurring, I sit him down for two reasons: 1. Avoid the turnovers 2. Instill in him he will sit until he controls his passing He really throws these bounce passes that have no way of being handled by anyone. Curiously, I’ve seen him throw many great passes for easy layups but then he will revert back to his careless style - I’m thinking it’s mostly mental.
It’s basketball; committing turnovers, missing FT’s, missing layups, not playing team ball will get you seated until it’s not often repeated. It’s worse when these are committed late in close games. These mistakes will cost ball games; TG has to make the determination. It analagous to when Clayton Jr was held out when we had in-bounds after an opponent field goal - he was making careless errors in-bounding the ball. Unless Kugel is being benched for some type of disciplinary offense or he is ill or whatever, this would be my thought.
Nothing Golden said in the PC led me to believe Kugel won't play. Even talked about four guard lineups.
If Im reading tea leaves correctly, this is simply more of what we believe has been going on all year: TFG trying to motivate RK to play to his potential.
I refuse to believe this was a basketball decision. Fourth game in four days, we are already down a starter, guards gassed. Just no way. My guess is grades/class. Coach may not be able to reveal that due to FERPA privacy regulations.
that makes a helluva lot more sense that "other guys stepping up". If he was available and no other issues, he would have played both days to give the other guys a breather. I'm not faulting CTFG, I imagine that his hands (lips) are tied (sealed). Hopefully all is worked out by Friday.
Saying less is good. It's encouraging. Especially since Riley seemed to really be OK cheering on his team and really into it.
Ineligible/agent.............check Discipline/attitude..........check Late for team meeting....check Head not in the game.....check grades/class..................BINGO!
It does sound like some coach speak and yet it does sound like Kugel will play going forward. I'm fine with it and glad to be moving on.
I did not think of that, but with NIL college athletes are entitled to agents. The agent might be delving into areas that now makes playing him a risk for TG I agree with you, and if such is the case it has to be against the policies that govern scholarship players’ behavior. So your option 4 is really a subset of option 3.
