What "legal means" are you referring to? You can legally purchase a firearm from a private party and Florida eliminated the requirement to have a permit in order to carry a concealed firearm.

Well, this happened in Florida where - subject to two limited exceptions that almost certainly are not applicable here (pretty confident that this shooter was not a law enforcement or correctional officer) - an 18 year old cannot purchase any gun.

And while I’m not a particularly big fan of that provision, unless the Florida Democratic Party wants to start claiming Rick Scott and the 2018 legislative leadership as members, I voted for the people who raised that purchase age.

He may actually be on really safe ground in asserting that they didn’t legally purchase them if the Jax Beach shooters are also confirmed to be “teens” like they’ve been referred to.

Since it is: 1) illegal for someone under 21 (other than LEOs and COs) to purchase a firearm in Florida; and (2) illegal for someone under 18 to publicly possess a firearm, you don’t have to really go out on a limb to suggest that teenagers with guns in public broke the law by having them there.

Yes it would, but with many under 18 they will just turn them back out into the streets. Many times I see where someone is arrested with a gun during a crime and they have several felonies on their record including prior gun charges. They seem to spend very little time in prison if any at all. The police arrest them and the courts turn them loose.

You might want to take a look at FS 790.17(2)(a). It deals with the private sales of firearms and prohibits sales to people under the age of 18. FS 790.065(13) should be construed as prohibiting sales to those under 21 by licensed gun dealers.

Neither statute makes it unlawful for someone over 18 to possess a firearm.

I’m sure that’s just what these guys did.

Most are carrying stolen guns, the punk in NSB was 16(so he can’t legally own one in Florida).

Two summers ago another punk was in NSB on 4th of July and thought it would we fun to pull and point at no less than 6 different groups of people. On happened to be my son, when they caught the guy he was 17, on probation for firearm theft and the gun he was carrying was stolen. Out of about a dozen people only 2 decided to press charges(we were one of them). The guy is doing 4 years in Starke now because he chose to go to prison rather than enter into pre trial intervention program.

Most of these jackasses aren’t getting guns legally.
