Word is that Trump prefers to receive. But to the greater point of the thread, I believe you are correct. This was a nothing item that some lefties bought into.

Do any of you libbies even know the definition of the word Bloodbath? Evidently not!!! Straight from Merriam-Webster:
    1
    : a great slaughter
    2
    a
: a notably fierce, violent, or destructive contest or struggle
the campaign has become a bloodbath
    b
    : a major economic disaster
    a market bloodbath

Used in the exact context in which Trump used the word he was perfectly correct. He is clearly way smarter than every one of you who are ignorantly trying to say otherwise. Shame on all of you. Mostly shame on the ignorant lying hateful media as well as the lying old senile white man currently in the white house for spreading such misinformation, if not outright lies about this!!

I don’t think that suggesting the US needs to be a bit protective of the auto industry is really socialism.

Many have suggested cheap Chinese cars will eat the US auto industries lunch. It’s really simple economics, with the UAW getting their workers $50-60/hr and their Chinese counterparts getting paid pennies.

Hell it’s part of the reason Tesla stock has dropped as of late, due to the fear of cheap chinese EVs displacing Tesla market share.

Do some research it’s not an uncommon description used by commentators when markets turn south strongly.

You’ve never heard a new anchor say it was a blood bath on wall street today?

Here’s Biden using it in 2020 talking about his potential fight with Bernie Sanders.

“In March 2020, as the contest was narrowing around the former vice president and the progressive Democrat, Biden warned against the primary campaign becoming an internal "bloodbath" between Democrats which could have weakened the party and allowed Trump to win.

"What we can't let happen is let this primary become a negative bloodbath," Biden told a crowd of Democratic donors gathered in Bethesda, Maryland, as reported by POLITICO”.

I’m certainly not defending Trump for all his stupid and potentially illegal crap, but this isn’t what some are trying to make it into.

    Outsider's view...

This is what annoys me about modern politics - not just yours, but we're seeing it more and more over here too.

People will say he's just verbalising what he's thinking. But he - and the others who do it - are not idiots. They know their words rally people to the cause. Politicians manipulate public sentiment. Nobody would ever be thick enough to say "you should kill one another" if I lose but they know that articulating it achieves voter anger/response. It's just that some lunatics out there will go ahead and kill others and then we wonder why. All politicians need more restraint but how do we hold them to account?

No matter WHO says this sort of thing, it shouldn't be acceptable in a 21st century democracy.
This shouldn't be a left/right partisan issue either - it should be people holding politicians to a higher level of account.

I am less worried about him using the term bloodbath than him saying he doesn't believe migrants are people.

There is no way to excuse that. He said it plainly, and no other context is needed to understand it.

Man is sick, plain and simple. And anyone who would vote for him knowing he said something like that is sick too.

I really appreciate the outside POV, Limey. Thanks!
I disagree, though, with the comment that Trump thinks through his words and speaks with intent. I don’t believe that to be the case with Trump. I think he just says the words that pop in his brain at any given moment, with no forethought whatsoever.
