It’s a fear all ballers have. Risk we take every time we step on the court. I didn’t have a break, but my meniscus tear and partial ACL tear two years ago seems to be taking its toll on me. I’m facing some life changing issues at the moment. I wonder if I’ll ever be able to run a few miles or play basketball again. I’ve been getting by on it for awhile now, but just hit the wall a few weeks ago. :(

With Micah out, what are our chances of making any noise in the the tournament?

Did they ever do a replay to see how it happened? Still, feel sick for him and the team, prayers for a full and speedy recovery.

Decent depending on how the team rallies and Golden adjusts. We lose the platoon of bigs that was such a huge advantage, but could gain something if we add Kugel back into the mix. If not Kugel then Rishwain needs a go. We need to play more than 7. This would be a great time to break the seal off of Scymkyckzzk but I’m guessing he doesn’t want to burn a year of eligibility. I understand if he doesn’t, but if he’s healthy, his team needs him badly rn and that should be a consideration.

From what a poster here said, it’s not something you want to see. I chose not to rewind my recording or look for it in social media.

I backed it up right after it happened before it was clear how serious it was. His left foot came down awkwardly and his leg just buckled. It didnt seem like there was significant contact or anything to point to that caused it. The sound made me queasy, once was more than enough. Thinking of Micah this evening

I don’t want to be overly dramatic. It’s “life changing”, not “life challenging”. I went from running four miles with ease last month to hobbling around now. I aggravated my injury and it just seems like it’s all just catching up to me. I might not be able to play men’s league bball and other things but I’m going to get surgery and fight like hell. I’m too good at 46 y/o to retire from bball!

Got it. I read that wrong and I understand at 42 years old myself. If you grew up playing basketball it does hurt mentally not being able to play the way you once did. Your mind wants to do it but your body is like....nope

Can’t he play a few games like they do in football without burning a year?

I am going to disagree with you 75% more than you disagreed with me (at a minimum). We are talking about the psychological impact of Micah's injury on his teammates. Obviously, the team had to play shorthanded, so it limited TG's substitution strategy and caused foul trouble concern for the other big men. However, this was not a KJ level of a medical problem that would have a material negative psychological impact on the team. If anything, I would expect them to play harder.

Tampa, I actually like you so don’t take my constant disagreeing with you any other way than we just have opposing views on many things. That said, I have to infinity times infinity disagree with you on this.

No problem with us disagreeing, but you're choosing to multiply infinity by infinity is completely inappropriate and uncalled for and is embarrassing to UF's math program as just referring to infinity achieves the same thing.

Infinity times infity is twice as much infinity. Duh.

I saw the blood. I did not think compoung fracture at the time. But if the fracture caused the blood then it's a horrible injury. Micah will be fine. Especially with modern medicine. Man that arena was so quite you could hear a mouse. I hope our coaches can find a way to minimize his absence and come up with an effective rotation etc. to keep us winning and rebounding so well.

How often do programs have this type of catastrophic injury luck? Egbunu, KJ, Micah? First and foremost concern goes out to Micah and family. Not that it needed to be said and I wouldn't bring up something as trivial as Gator sports injury luck in the Micah well wishes thread but I had to ask when I saw this one. Just bizzare.
