I'm just glad we get to complain about our seed line haha Miss state got in as well. 8 teams from the SEC?
Their Torvick was 15, rpi 14, their only “bad” metric was ELO and it was 23. And again, the committee always rewards the good OOC schedules, even with some losses. folks can not like it, but it’s been the same criteria for years. I will say again that USCe is the most overvalued seed in the tournament, by far. Net of 51, 327th OOC schedule strength, Torvick last I looked was 47. Elo is their only good metric at 23, which is barely a 6 even there.
Their SOS was legit, but if you look at the results they lost most of their tough games. Purdue L Creighton L Arizona L Clemson L Ohio state L Tennessee 0-1 UF 1-2 AUBURN 1-1 UK 0-1 Misstate 2-0 Usce 1-0 A&M 1-0
I hope not. Purdue will get one of the evening games. Other games are Utah St-TCU and Marquette. Praying for the afternoon session.
Yes they did. But the committee always rewards the schools who play those schedules even if they lose a bunch of them. It’s been that way for 2 decades, ask Boeheim who got left out twice for it. Or A&M who got left out for it a few years ago. Miss State too.
I dont begin to understand the Metric stuff. I just don't think Bama is that much better than UF, maybe I just feel like if they're a 4 seed, UF should of been a 5, and 6 at worst. Whats St. Mary and Gonzagas metrics they both received 5 seeds and I didnt think either team would of been that high.
Just providing information on the selection committee and not shocked the SEC is represented by Kentucky. Football is controlled by Bama and Basketball by Kentucky...just the way it is in the SEC. Currently, the chair of the committee is Bernard Muir, the director of athletics at Stanford. Here are the rest of the committee members: Mitch Barnhart, director of athletics, University of Kentucky Tom Burnett, commissioner, Southland Conference Janet Cone, director of athletics, University of North Carolina Asheville Bernadette McGlade, commissioner, Atlantic 10 Conference Michael O’Brien, vice president and director of athletics, University of Toledo Jim Phillips, vice president for athletics and recreation, Northwestern University Chris Reynolds, vice president for intercollegiate athletics, Bradley University Craig Thompson, commissioner, Mountain West Conference Kevin White, director of athletics, Duke University
Agreed, LOVE Oregon in that and will be putting my money where my mouth is on that one if ya knowadda mean…
Both were rated higher than us on KenPom. Gonzaga largely on the strength of a Top 10 offensive efficiency, St. Mary's on a top 50 offense and 16th ranked defense, according to Ken Pom.
We were the overall #25, the top rated 7 seed. South Carolina was #24, the last 6. It’s almost like the SEC Tournament didn’t matter to the committee. By the way, our NET was 26, while the Gamecocks was 51.
Duke as a 4 isn't deserving. Certainly Clemson isn't a 6. Iowa State should have been a 1 seed or at least the 2 in NC's region
