Kugel today

Should we assume he's done for the year (and maybe as a Gator)?

 

I'm not trying to pick on you, but the team couldn't have done a practice between Friday night (when we played 17 minutes) and Saturday afternoon (DNP). And after we saw him on the bench yesterday cheering for the team, I'm struggling to imagine how bad he was int he locker room after the Bama win Friday night. Personally, I think something else is going on.

 

For those of you that have coached, you know there can be stuff going on that outsiders can't see. Stuff that would explain everything, in a way that doesn't make the player or coach look like the villain.

 

Whatever the situation is, we need Kugel to step up and play well if we plan on moving past the 1st weekend of the tournament, especially with the injury today.

 

This is a good point and maybe the best point. But Kugel scored 22 points versus Auburn 5 weeks ago. Everybody outside the locker room is legitimately wondering—“why didn’t Kugel play one minute?”

 

My uninformed take?

Tough love. You are letting your teammates down.

 

Wild speculation, but it might be agent related ... sometimes when a player sits unexpectedly its proactive to avoid having to forfeit games later due to eligibility.

For Kugel not to play the last 2 games, even after Micah went down ... something is clearly up.

If he plays in the tournament, then his benching vs A&M and Auburn was clearly disciplinary ... but if he never plays again, I'm guessing it is an eligibility issue.

 

Your post makes a lot of sense to me other than the eligibility concept. Not playing might he coming from Kugel’s side or from TG, but I don’t see how you don’t play Kugel in this game considering that he can get a shot off outside the flow of the offense whenever he wants to, and that was needed in this game.

Absolutely nothing can be conceived from that sort of protection!!

 

Agent for what? Kugel is a solid P5 guy but right now he’s a non starting rotational matchup player. He isn’t even remotely close to needing an agent.

 

Read on another board he was either late or skipped walkthrough/team meeting. Keep in mind he is one of the highest paid NIL players on the team.

 

My totally uninformed guess is he's hitting the portal and not going to play again and risk injury.

we can't go 2 deep in the tourney. It will kill us. If he is healthy, he has to play.

 

I really hope Kugel is playing in the tournament. If not Rishwain is probably the next best option for minutes. He was kind of TG's insurance as a guy with experience and can hit some shots. With no Kugel, its hard to just play 7. Hope we hear something soon.
