They showed Brucie's pregame speech and he said at the end something to the affect of our 5 on their four and we win. Was he clairvoyant or something?
Poor shooting is a product of tired legs. Four games in four days, four physical games. Losing Micah hurts but I like our chances going forward. And whoever said we need to develop a bench…..really?
I'd take Steph Curry who has been forced to run for 24 hours straight strapped to a treadmill over almost any fresh NBA player to take one 3 point shot to save my life.
Why do we have conference championship tournaments? I know it might give a bubble team a chance, but to me it’s just a money grab. We’ve already played each other, maybe even twice. But, let’s do a tourney and make the players play 4 nights in a row, right before the main tournament. Just doesn’t seem like a smart thing.
Saw all those guys play. Andy Owens from Hillsborough HS and Neal Walk (and a tough PG named Leatherwood) on the same team. They could play with anyone.
Riley makes too many bad decisions. He just has to be a smarter player. I swear his baseline drives into trouble would have been a disaster against a team that defends like Auburn. That and I think if he did it one more time this week I may have broken the TV... And I we watched at my parents house so it wouldnt even be my TV.
Overall, a great tournament for us. That Micah injury was horrible to watch in person at the arena. Our boys played tough after that emotional situation. As a side not, Broom is the softest big man I've ever seen in person. Every commercial, he is bitching to the refs constantly and falls down when touched by a finger. I've never seen someone that soft down low.
It might seem like a pile of minutes, but ZP played 35, WCJ played 31, DA 21. We went 8% from 3. As reference, NC State guards in 5th game yesterday: 36, 34, and 32 minutes. NC State went 41% from 3. I don't claim correlation-causation. I just don't think the "tired legs" was the primary cause. I do agree that he should have done big subbing when game got out of reach.
Lol..Mike White Beat him a few times (on BLOW out fashion) and Golden literally just blew him out a few weeks ago
I highly doubt we were a 5 before this game, so I don't see us dropping to a 6. Plus, it's not like we lost Pullin or Clayton, or even Samuel. Given how the (disproportionately influential) NET rankings have somehow downgraded us all season, I think Evan Miya is probably right: we will get seeded lower than we should. From what I've read, seems like we are right on the edge of that 6-7 line, though we play like a 4-5 against top 4-5 seeds.
Now that I have researched it, he actually has a 12-11 record against us while coaching Auburn and Tennessee. There was a time he was 7-1 against us when he coached at Tennessee including three seasons when he swept the home and home series.
Kind of a hollow feeling today. I wasn't thinking they were going to get to this game and so that was a positive. But the results were not good for whatever reason and now Micah is out for the tourney. Lose yesterday and this all does not occur. And call me skeptical that we would have a much better draw winning on Saturday versus losing. It is what it is. Now to the Sweet 16!
