Missed most of the game. Did we use Slater tonight? If not, I like our chances. Cags, Slater and a 40-50 pitch Neely should be hard to beat if our bats show up.
No Slater. I think Neely threw 50-60 on Friday, so not sure we want him throwing that much again on Sunday, but I'd assume he's good to close it out.
If and when Slater comes in I hope he throws like he has most of the season and not like he did against FSU on Tuesday.
Same as last Sunday: The product of pollen and UV index exceeds 80. I'm going to be watching this one at home. <strike>PM me if you want a pair of tickets, 9th row behind HP umps right shoulder. (No charge, but cheer a little bit harder for Cade Kurland, OK? He's my favorite.)</strike> -- tickets are gone.
Go get’em Gators—take the series! We will be traveling back up to north Georgia, I’ll follow along as best service will allow……
The question about Earl. In the late 1990's a group known as the Hecklers started the Earl thing. Exactly when and who the opponent was has been forgotten. But here's how it started. An opponent's pitcher named Earl was throwing terrible so a reliever was brought in. The reliever was just as bad. Pitches going everywhere but across the plate. The heckler's started yelling "Just another Earl!" From that time on any opponent pitcher in trouble was called Earl. That morphed into every opponent pitcher being called Earl. A couple of the original Hecklers with new recruits still do their best to irritate the visiting team.
Pretty much this ^^^ I've gone through just about every box score from the time frame, and the games that look right don't have matching pitcher names; I think it's a possibility that they got the original pitcher's name wrong (announced/provided roster) or that it was heard wrong (by the fans). "Oh look, Earl's back!" Was funny to our fans, but the other team had no clue what the heck we were talking about. Go GATORS! ,WESGATORS
