Real simple..I’ve never found a reason to be convoluted. As a business owner who put every brick in the building himself without daddy’s help I value performance and dislike excuses. Do what you were paid millions for and win and I am pleased…shove another 5 win season down my throat and everyone’s excuses should be declared worthless. Sorry you thought I twisted things..seemed very straight forward and reasonable.

Napier has had everything and more than any other coach that has coached at UF and this is the time he needs to prove himself after two abysmal seasons. Pointing this out is a no-no on this board. Like you said, whether the pumpers like it or not...it's time to put up or shut up.

 

I think he does. I hope he does.

FWIW this year should give us an indication how all of these hires and the leadership of the team plays out. Some kids are close to a breakout season, some kids are real good and developing nicely, some are young. But being coached up, and the desire to win after a bad taste in their collective mouths should help our cause. I'm truly excited about our defense. We have the coaching and players to have a shift in a positive way.

It's gotta be a beat Miami and never look back type of season!

Do we have a STs Coordinator yet or did that not happen? I thought he tried to hire someone and it was done but looking at the coaching and staff I don't see a coach designated as STs. We hope Napier gets on track this season but it also seems like he made poor hiring decisions and has had to work on shoring up his staff by hiring coaches to help them. Very unusual. I wish he would allow his guys do what they believe will make his offense more effective, ditch the predictable routes, button hooks etc. Not sure I trust the guy and his ego but if he wins, great.

 

i'll bite on this.. 5 new coaches out of 11. What are the poor hiring decisions he made? Overall, from what i can see, it seems like he hired some quality people overall who will upgrade our level of play.

 

There's nothing to bite. You could have said the same thing last season- "he hired some quality people overall who will upgrade our level of play". No STs coordinator last season, maybe not one this season- losses attributable to inadequate STs execution. An inexperienced DC for whom another assistant DC was hired. Two OL coaches, one deemed an OC, who so far has not been able to recruit well at his core position or train his OL to play well. Hocke retained at close to a million dollars but doesn't even have a title or role that makes sense.

 

One thing about Napier that seems to hold true is that he has a good eye for talent, and he's a very good recruiter. Let's just hope that our NIL figures out a way to keep that said talent in Gainesville. We cannot afford to lose quality recruits... especially the ones we got from high school. The ones that the Gators helped turn into great players at the college level.

 

Going back to last season? Loser mentality... He hired 5 new coaches. Once again, which ones were poor hiring decisions?
