It never occurred to me before this thread that RK might be a PG. Call it hopium, but if he figured it out, he would lay waste to everybody.
I sincerely hope you're right. He has tremendous athletic ability, but his skills aren't at the same level. I want him to stay but he needs a huge offseason.
I feel confident in saying that he has better court vision and passing skills than anyone on the team other than Pullin. Saying that, he needs to get rid of the sloppy play. He can’t dribble with the ball exposed like he does. He should be watching how Pullin does it. The ball is so close to Pullin’s body while he’s dribbling that even if he fumbles it a little he can get the ball before a defender can. My guess is that Kugel’s success if he stays at UF will depend on whether he makes a 100% commitment to improving his game during the off season and during the season. He looks to me like he plays at 50%. Contrast that with Pullin and Haugh, who both play at 100% on both ends of the floor.
That’s because it’s a fantasy, as the OP said himself. This is a fun game of what if, but I’d say there is 100% chance TFG will be recruiting a PG for next season. To the general point of the thread: part of what I love about our current team and what I sense will be part of the identity of our rosters going forward is our size and defensive versatility…..like the point about Haugh on the OP. Our lineup versatility next season could be wild!
If everyone returns that is able to return and not including any incoming unknown talent, it’s in my mind going to be: 1- Aberdeen/Clayton/Kublickas 2 - Clayton/Kugel/Kublickas 3 - Richard/Kugel/Haugh 4 - Haugh/Condon/Szymczyk 5 - Condon/Handlogten/Szymczyk
Wasn’t Tampa dogging golden and this team? He doesn’t just get to pretend everything is fine and rosy now. Eat some humble pie.
The progression has gone about as well as it could, which is remarkable. Enjoyed every minute of the journey while fantasizing about how good this team would be next year with everyone back.
Think Portal God Todd will go aggressively after replacements for Pullin and Samuel, hopefully talent that can start at those positions….because if the German Consontant isn’t getting any time now I don’t see him starting (Handlogten would be way ahead of him too) and in no universe is Kugel running our offense, he’s been a turnover machine recently in limited minutes. All that said, if all the guys we want to stay - stay - then we have a very, very solid foundation next year. Condo could be an absolute beast next year and Haugh might have the skill-set to play the 3 as you mentioned. He has great form on his 3.
For Clayton to return, he will need assurances that he will get first crack at PG. Other than Clayton, Aberdeen has the size that Golden likes in his PG, but Kublickas is the one true PG on our roster right now. Kajus Kublickas - Men's Basketball - Florida Gators
He could just watch Pullen’s tapes as he’s an excellent PG. He needs to slow himself down a little and really value every possession. I think he could do it.
I don't see it. I don't think he has nearly the handle of Pullen and he would need to slow himself down more than a little
I didn’t think Clayton could transfer again. He already transferred last year. Wouldn’t he have to go pro to leave?
If I'm Kugel I'm locking myself in a room and watching video of Pullin 24/7 and then mimic everything he does in game.
